Can't really say that considering Gordon never played for that mob. Celtic resurrected Gordon's career and Woods was a massive part of that. Bain isn't the answer, neither is Barkas or Hazard currently. Forster was the answer, but he didn't want to come here. Someone has then identified Barkas as his replacement, I highly doubt that would have been Woods and he isn't good enough. Not every player/keeper will be able to be improved, some just don't work out, Barkas is one of them. What I would say though, not one of them have had a run of games because Lennon has chopped and changed that much, and when they have been in the team they have played behind a defence that has been shocking. Bottom line is, we need a new keeper, but Woods is not the problem here, the recruitment has been.

I can agree with done 9c that but there's not a cat in *'s chance that Woods hadn't been involved in sanctioning the signing of any goalkeeper that's came into the club .
that would be hugely disrespectful bearing in mind he's considered at too coach.or is he?

Why would a goalkeeping coach get a say when the manager didn't always get consulted on transfers? I highly doubt Woods has been involved in any transfers. Regardless, Woods improved Forster and helped Gordon no end. I'm not worried about him being our goalkeeping coach in the slightest.

do you are basically saying that a Goalkeeper coach has no say in which Goalkeepers are signed ,nor responsible for the way they perform.
In which case you're right Woods should be exempt of any critisism and should carry 9n as is ,hmmmmmm

As I have said repeatedly, if Rodgers had no say in certain transfers, why are you so sure that a goalkeeping coach would be consulted? Where did I say he wasn't responsible for the way they played? I said he was responsible for the vast improvement in Forster and Gordon. It hasn't worked with Barkas, but such is football. Some players don't work out, won't be the first time and it wont be the last. Woods has done enough with previous keepers to merit staying though.

Is that common knowledge? It may well be the case by the way, I just haven't seen that anywhere.

Aye. It was reported, with a quotation from someone at the club (I forget who said it), when Barkas signed.

He’s the best out of the current lot and that’s that.

Fine for our number 2 but that’s no good when we don’t have a number 1.

at least he made saves, that one of the line was a great save. still need better though as there was plenty of high balls into the box that he should have been collecting.

Definitely not a good keeper but, then again, what do we do as, between the three of them, there's not one good keeper. We should never have thrown all our eggs in the one basket hoping that we would get Forster. We should have made alternative plans if we never got him (which we didn't) which was just another example of our club's poor planning

Ha, the one off the line could have been made by any outfield play guarding the post , this guy will never be a keeper as long as there's a hole in his * .
can't catch a Ball ,although does do a very good feint on corners and balls into the box .

I think Barkas seemed a very solid alternative plan at the time. One we were all pretty unanimously supporting once it became apparent Fraser wasn’t interested.

Barkas needs to be moved on. A failed project. Bain is the best we have currently

The save from Burke was a good stop. He isn't good enough though, I would play him before Barkas however.
