Absolutely shambolic answer of a centre half. To think we’re playing Ajer at right back and have this nugget in the middle. I’d much rather have Ajer at the heart of the defence even if it meant a Ralston playing in right back. Bitton truly is awful especially as a defender.

I admit Bitton has his qualities, but let’s be honest he is a makeshift CB.

It is absolutely criminal and a total slap in the face to our youth players that we have an actual CB on the bench who Lennon point blank refuses to play - young Welsh.

I don’t care if folk think he isn’t good enough or isn’t experienced enough, he should be given a run of games to prove himself and learn the game, instead of being completely overlooked.

He's an alright option at Cb when he has a competent partner, look. Back the last couple seasons he did a fine job, this season with the * that we've had and having to partner with Shane Duffy just puts him out of it

Would much rather have him at CB than Duffy

Your stuck between a rock and a hard place when that’s your options.

Neither should be at Celtic next season.

NIR BITTON is a summer target for Israeli champions Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Celtic are set to undergo a major squad overhaul at the end of the season.

Ambitious Maccabi want to end Bitton’s eight-year Hoops stay and bring him home to Israel.

The 29-year-old joined Celtic in August 2013 but hasn’t always been a regular in recent seasons.

He is under contract for another two years and the Hoops will not let him go on the cheap.

But Maccabi could test Celtic’s resolve with a summer bid for the versatile Israel star.

Bitton, capable of playing in defence or midfield, is a popular member of the Hoops squad and has settled well in Scotland.

Hatem Elhamed, his fellow Israeli, is on the verge of returning to Hapoel Be’er Sheva due to family reasons.

Bitton has had no such issues and is unlikely to be in a rush to leave, but Maccabi could be an attractive option.

The Israeli champs are currently second in the league and are in the last 32 of the Europa League.

Maccabi have won five of the last eight titles and are favourites to be crowned champions again this term.

Bitton will still be here next season, as he should be, under a competent manager who will utilize him properly

For me, the only attribute he appears to offer is as a sitting midfielder who would be used in an away European game or to bring on for some game management when trying to see out a game.
He is way too much a liability to play as a center half.

For me it’s time for Nir to go. He is one that never quite fulfilled his potential, as at one point he looked like being the next high fee departure. The club have stood by him through some lengthy injuries and giving him a new deal last year.

He is not a CB but seems to be that place in the squad he is taking due to finding himself so far down the CM pecking order. For that reason if the offer brings in a little more cash say even around £1m I would be inclined to sell.

Bitton has been a good servant to the club and has been used as a utility player. Over the last couple of seasons he has been used mainly as a CB as there is no room for him in the midfield. As it's starting to be proven, you are better playing a natural CB instead of shoe horning someone in because of their experience. Young Welsh looks more accomplished than Bitton playing that role. No sentiment, we need a clear out and Bitton is one of the first on the list for me.

He’s one I’d keep over to next year, freshen up the first team, have a few leftovers that can do job in the squad and are good in the dressing room and replace those guys the following year.
