Aye but Leverkusen didn't set him up a couple of pints and get him a psychologist to find out why he had such a loser mentality did they

Fiorentina have also made a bid for Celtic star Jeremie Frimpong.

Neil Lennon revealed on Tuesday the right-back was abroad speaking to a club having asked to leave Parkhead.

He's closing in on a switch to Bayer Leverkusen, worth in excess of £10m.

Record Sport understands Celtic also received a bid from the Serie A outfit

Money rich City stick a 30% signing on fee for a player, we stick on a 10% to one of the best Defenders in the world and one of the top young strikers in Europe.

Is Lawwell actually doing a great job?

Lawwell does a great job of hiding how bad a job he's doing.

Also fantastic at dividing and manipulating the fan base. At this point the support have been conditioned to put their money in and keep expectations very low.

A decent sell on clause isn't that surprising when we only paid 300k for him. The sell on I'm taking issue with, and thinking is complete bollocks tbh. is people claiming that we/PSG have a 30-40% sell on with french eddie after spending up to 9m on him, that would be insane if it turned out to be true.

It's really not a hard concept to grasp.

It's striking a balance between a guaranteed upfront fee and a possible transfer bonanza further down the line.

We could have pushed for 30% of a fee with VVD but Southampton wouldn't have paid a record Scottish transfer fee if we demanded it.

The Frimpong deal was good all round.

We got a good player cheap and made good profit, the player got first-team opportunities and Man City got £3-4m between the upfront & sell-on for a player that was never playing for them any time soon.

I find it pretty baffling. Would people prefer we were paying £3m up front with a 10% sell on for a player with no first team experience?

That works out the same amount as what it'll be if we get £10m for him. However the financial risk if it doesn't work out is far far lower with the higher % sell on instead of the higher up front fee.

To suggest players stagnate under him is being incredibly generous and optimistic.

I’d be over the moon if our players were only stagnating.

Indeed, or to give it it's Sunday name, the 'business model'

I love the Celtic family but its always puzzled me why they seem so happy (this season aside) with so little. Lets be honest about it, this last decade winning domestically has been shooting fish in a barrel but against his background we did little/nothing in Europe and most supporters seem to have accepted that being even a moderate force in Europe is now beyond us.

Most of the squad probably wants away if Lennon stays any longer, outside his handful of undroppable favourites.

TBH I was surprised Frimpong was one of the want aways ....always looked happy to be at the club.

However, can hardly blame him moving to a top German side and the Bundesliga from a totally dysfunctional outfit like ourselves.
