what I’m saying is over the past 20 years we’ve become absolute minnows in European competition, a fate that we were told was just due to our league and the way football was changing, of course until the Huns outperform any of our knockout performances for almost 20 years in their first season in the Europa league. Give me a break.

Mate, our European standing has done anything but plummet in the last 20 years. The 80s and 90s were hardly a hotbed of success, quite the opposite.

 

You’re right enough but we had Martin O’Neill taking us to the UEFA cup final 3 months before lawwell took over. We made the UEFA cup quarter final the season after, and haven’t won a knockout tie since. Yes we made champions league last 16’s shortly after then Lenny done it again in 2012 but since lawwell took over our success has become very very few and far between. Why are we in this position. We’ve been afforded the luxury of 9 league titles in a row virtually unopposed and we’ve done Nothing to try and take the next step as a football club, done the opposite in fact.

 

Deluded. Arrogant. Incompetent. You have to wonder what he has to do to be sacked. If it is the intention to keep him until the end of the season then the club need to say so, so at least we can make our peace with it and look forward to, hopefully, better times. The atmosphere among the fans towards NL, PL and DD is becoming more toxic by the day, the club need to state, unequivocally, what the plan is regarding the managers position.

Why is no one asking Lennon the most pressing question on everyone's lips,

It's certainly looking that way. Best we can hope for now I reckon is some sort of caretaker manager and he leaves. Don't think we are getting any more than that before the Summer.

You have to wonder why they haven't. Has the pandemic hit resources harder than we're led to believe, making it the case where we simply can't afford to sack him, replace him and fund a new managers signings? Do the board favour him because he's someone they can control and rely on not to make waves? Are they having trouble finding a worthwhile replacement and thinking better the devil you know? Or do they actually rate him as a boss and genuinely think he's the best man for the job? Lot's of questions but precious little in the way of answers and a lot of heads appear stuck in the sand.

Got to look at it through the lens of money spent. Rodgers probably earned more than 3x what Lennon makes and we aren’t performing ~that~ much worse, so as far as the board is concerned it’s a-ok

 

Good post, makes for scary thinking though. We're either skint beyond belief, run by a board who want full control of the club, or run by idiots who know nothing about football.

 

I don't watch any his interviews now or any videos of the players training, everything about the club irritates the * life out. We all feel the same and the board and Lennon know it yet here we are 26th January without a * clue what these aresholes have got planned for the future of our club.
