Celtic are giving midfielder Olivier Ntcham the green light to seek a transfer this month, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The French midfielder has been one of up to four Hoops stars considered for big-money January exits to raise much-needed cash.

Now a Celtic source has told Football Insider that club chiefs have opened the door for Ntcham’s suitors ahead of the transfer window cut-off on 1 February.

Premier League duo West Brom and Southampton have been in pursuit of the versatile midfielder as well as Marseille and Lyon.

Ntcham has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Celtic.

Football Insider revealed last summer that the Scottish champions value Ntcham at around £12million, nearly three times what they paid for him in 2017, but the price is set to drop.

Southampton have a longstanding interest in the player and also have the advantage of regular trading with Celtic in recent years.

Mohammed Elyounoussi is on a second consecutive season-long loan at Parkhead and Fraser Forster also held talks in the last window after his outstanding campaign last term.

Ntcham has had an up-and-down season in which he has showed only fleeting glimpses of the talent that made him a key member of the quadruple treble-winning side.

The former France Under-21 international has made just seven Scottish Premiership starts among 23 appearances in all competitions.

A regular scorer and creator during his four seasons at Celtic, he has been in quarantine during the last two games and not started a league match since October.

No surprise that we're looking to sell. Well, actually, the way we have been ran this season, it is a surprise.

For whatever reason, he hasn't hit the heights he threatened he could.

Hoping for a decent fee close to £10m.

More pressing issue is the restructuring from non-playing staff is required ASAP.

Would take anything from £6m upwards, although I think we could get a few mil more even if it’s add ons. Clearly has talent but application is sorely lacking. I don’t think he will ever achieve his potential.

I would put Christie, Eddy and less so given how short we are in the position but if a good offer came in Ajer in the same situation. If a good offer comes in they can go as we need funds for a rebuild once the new manager comes in and we could probably get a better price now than the summer when they all have a year left.

It really is shambolic squad management getting to this situation with so many first team regulars, especially when you throw in Brown being done, our left back, left winger and one of three senior CBs all being loans.

No sane team would pay 10m for this guy. He is not worth it. Terrible attitude, inconsistenr and no natural talents such as what Edouard has to compensate.

he has plenty and more, a good manager would tap into them! he thinks the manager is a * for calling him out at the start of the season etc so he has stopped playing for him and throwing the toys out of the pram , a new manager he might buck up his act - but yes he believes he is better than he is, but most modern players do.

I don't know. You are right that a better manager could improve him, but he will never be a top EPL player such as other guys who passed here. Even at his best moments during the peak of Rodgers era he was really frustrating to watch, wasting possession with bad passed and misplaced shots.

I would happy to see him sold. Our rebuild will need more character than talent. We shouldn't wait until the point someone comes with 12 million to us.

With his attitude,he is bound to have a negative effect on team morale.

Course it would never happen but i would gladly let him go for nothing just to be rid of.Id say the feeling around the place would improve straight away the guy puts me in a downer just thinking about him.

He was one of those where a lot of the support, me included, thought he was the fall guy and were fooled..

Then he'd come in and barely move or track back..

His attitude has been a disgrace..

that is always the problem in any team - often first team players stuck playing 'reserve team football' then changed to development teams.

Someone like Ntcham playing in development / reserve teams … a new budding 16 or 17 year old is called into that team, he is buzzing, Ntcham says 'look at me no chance kid', his enthusiasm is quickly replaced with zero confidence. One of the hardest jobs in a club is managing the reserve team - balance between getting the kids through into the first team and managing fringe senior players. Often the best youth players by-pass this and straight into the first team setup.

Atm the youth and development squads are knocked on the head - always raise the question do the Spanish approach and allow them to play in lower divisions like barca b teams etc.

He has the ability which is a shame, the attitude and application aren't correct - a good manager could see that and give him a chance, when he is on form he is a joy to watch but so inconsistent - technically one of the best players at the club. Him and the manager don't see eye to eye, same with eddie griff and I would also say ajeti.

A new manger in now the players would up their game and impress before the end of the season, has the club the balls to it after Wednesday's game as we all expect?
