Anyone recommend any decent podcasts? I enjoy stuff on history, anything educational, or just some interesting interviews yous might have listened to.I'm open to any suggestions on any genre though. I also have a few credits on audible to use so any suggestions for audiobooks but preferably not fictional stuff.

Deviate with Rolf Potts is interesting especially if you're interested in travel.

If you like audiobooks then you should check if your library has an online system. Glasgow does, and so does Falkirk, you can sign up for free and take out audiobooks and ebooks.

"A Brief History of Roman Britain" on Audible is good but try a voice sample first. "Fingerprints of the Gods" is there too and is well read by the author.

"The British History Podcast" is well done and very in depth. Fascinating stuff.

"History Extra Podcast" is good too.

Been watching some of his stuff for awhile now. Some decent stuff in it. It's all kicking off now with him, Darren gee and marvin. I always knew Darren would * it up somewhere along the line, self destruction will be his down fall. I've just watched one if his videos slating James and it's cringe material. He just can't see he's going to be the cause of his own Downfall with these type of videos. One the one cheek he's saying choose a life not a life wanting to go into schools to promote staying away from the dark life for kids and on the other cheek he's saying he's coming up to Glasgow or go to London to do James and marvin in. I actually stopped watching anything to do with Darren because of his tone and the way he presents himself but was shocked but not surprised when I seen his and James's videos today. Darren gee will end up in his forever box very soon or back in Jail and TBH, both are looking deserved for the way he's carrying on. Some dangerous people he's been slating all over the net.

Apart from all that, James's podcasts are very good and will continue watching them every week.

Grounded with Louis Theroux (BBC Sounds, Spotify)
The Portal with Eric Weinstein (Spotify, YouTube)

    Non-fiction:

    Hitler by Ian Kershaw
Mythos, Heroes, and Troy by Stephen Fry
    Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari

Fiction, but I cannot recommend these highly enough:

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy (read by Maggie Gyllenhaal)
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (read by Jake Gyllenhaal)
The Odyssey by Homer (translated by Emily Wilson, read by Clare Danes)

Currently listening through Season 2 of grounded in work just now. Sia's an interesting one.

Really wasnt keen on Mythos and is one of 3/4 that ended up in my 'Did not finish' pile. Didn't like at all the way Fry interpreted some of the stories. Would also recommend the Yuval Noah Harari books though, or any podcast he appears on - very intelligent man.

Gyllenhaal performing Gatsby was great. Would also recommend Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile read by Kenneth Branagh.

Tbh I don't think either of them came out looking good. Darren is a screwball, and James tries to be a hard man when he clearly isn't. He embarrasses himself.

Respect to Darren for the message he is trying to get across, but you get the feeling he's * against the wind.

James is good, and has some brilliant guests, but recently I've thought it was going to his head a bit. He's coming out with stuff like he'll be the biggest podcaster on the planet next year etc.

Just needs to calm down and not be up his own * so much.

Definitely good to watch, but I'd be easily turned off if the Billy big bollox stuff continues.

James English is a tadger. Preaches on about mental health but calls out people for their looks on Twitter if they criticise his podcast.

Like you said, thinks he’s the ticket. He attracts a certain crowd on social media who think the sun shines from his * - “* legend mate, class again”. And it’s completely went to his head.

I need some recommendations as well. Usually only listen to football podcasts - Totally Football Show, Football Weekly and the Football Ramble.

S-Town is probably the best podcast I’ve listened to when it comes to true crime/investigative journalism. Incredible series.

One of my favourites is Talk Media. Stuart Cosgrove and Eamonn O'Neill talking about current affairs and how the media portrays them. Excellent stuff.

Another one I like is Mindscape, guy called Sean Carroll talking about science, philosophy and the likes. Very interesting topics and guests. Favourie Celtic one is the Cynic.
