Awe thanks. Truth to tell I didn't know the first thing about photography until I got into this thread :52: I still know next to nothing but I'm doing what the experts say. Buy a camera and get out there. You seem to pick things up as you go! I would like to get a couple of really good shots to get printed and framed. So many lovely views here. I get a lot of birds etc but we don't have land mammals for obvious reasons. But once we open up again I will be getting out there :36:

I saw a Sparrow Hawk yesterday whilst out working . I was lucky enough to witness it fly down into a garden , and then swoop effortlessly between the building and a bush . A spectacular sight to see , but not so great if you're a Sparrow .

At a dusk walk today with Ruby Roo i at last saw my first Woodcock of the year. The fine bird flew right over us and landed on a meadow as dark took over.

Took my new camera out for a spin today :50: Waiting on my tripod and I think that I will be glad to see it :56:This thing is fairly heavy even with a strap. I finally figured out how to take the date off my photos. I downloaded Inpaint from microsoft. Now I need to figure out how to put my signature down in the corner of the photos. If anybody knows how to do that?

I plan to get a couple of landscapes printed off and put in frames and it would be nice to have my name on them :52:

    Walk On
Hi to those posters on here who know their stuff about nature (especially Jeannie). I was wanting to know if you know why, every few weeks, a load of crows suddenly appear and begin flying around the trees and rooftops for a good few minutes making a helluva racket. Then all of a sudden they all settle down on the trees for another few minutes and then the majority of them fly off leaving only the few that usually fly about my area. I know there is a constant battle between the crows, seagulls and occasionally the magpies for the right to attack the poor pigeons but I am just curious as to why all these crows suddenly descend on the trees next to where I stay every so often and regularly?

I wish I were an expert :56: I read this though

"Experts believe that these large gatherings of crows may provide warmth, protection, social opportunities, and a chance to share knowledge about food sources. Before heading to the roost, smaller groups of crows gather in what's known as staging areas, rather than flying directly to the roost"

Interestingly Parent crows in the UK chase their young off once they are able to fly and never see them again. Apparently American crows don't do this.

Thanks for that Jeannie. Honestly it looks like a scene from Hitchcock's film "The Birds" sometimes
