Hearing the bile that comes from the Huns and their "* save the queen" singing, I always amazes me that Celtic players and Celtic fans want to play for the north. Imagine having to stand there while the anthem belts out.

Have a few mates from the north, most of them support the Republic but have a couple of pals I lived with when I was in Oz from Limavady, and they supported NI, and them, although were both more into Man U. Used to have good banter with them about Celtic/Rangers. This will prob go down like a lead balloon, but they're not all bad lol.

I've never supported NI at football though, although always supported Ireland when Scotland weren't playing, as was just that way in my household.

I knew a couple of guys at school (Catholic grammar school in an overwhelmingly nationalist area) who supported NI and would claim that we were ignorant and against the principles of the peace process for not supporting them, really f*ckin weird. I would just go against the grain completely and support Scotland cus of my ma lol.

my dad said when he was growing up and NI played in the 82 World Cup that he and his family rooted for NI because of the large contingent of catholic nationalist players like Armstrong, Jennings and O’Neill etc. But nowadays, nah, no chance. Their support make my skin crawl with some of the garbage they chant.

When I was younger I liked seeing Lennon getting a good result for Northern Ireland, although they were pretty gash then but it was more rooting for Lenny than the country. I would root for Hazard to do well too but even if the country lost I'd raise a smile.

Looks like they've blown their chance to qualify for their last ever World Cup Finals.
