    I know someone who lives next door to the house he lived in... (Bradford)

    His wife stayed on there for years and years afterwards as well... it became a bit of a drive by attraction for a certain breed of weirdo.

    Biggest embarrassment in the history of West Yorkshire police - or any force really - in that they had to have detectives from London brought in to try and sort it... 5 years of chasing shadows.

    They'd brought him in a number of times and ruled him out each time.... the hoaxer didn’t help but they put too much faith in that being him.

    I don’t think They ever got the real hoaxer - they got someone who claimed to be him (hoax hoaxer?) ... he probably cost lives through the investigation being detoured.

    Sutcliffe was Caught by a five pound note in the end if I recall correctly.

    Now he’s just another Covid statistic.

    The police made the mistake of believing the hoax tape recording, so they were convinced the ripper had a geordie accent, sutcliffe himself had been interviewed a number of times because he matched the description given by one of the victims who survived.


    He worked for a haulage company, and incredibly his work mates referred to him as the ripper because of the resemblance.
