His comments during/after his first season about how he had found his love for the sport again was amazing to hear. His honest appraisal of his time at City and Villa compared to Celtic also great to hear. From someone who is a classic example of an England based player who never lived up to the hype (not his fault at all, thats the media down there), he firmly appreciates and understands why he played in some teams and what really made him happy.

Honest about getting the money move to City and honest to admit playing for relegation battling * like Villa was a waste of time for an attacking player like himself - something I am sure in hindsight Hooper understands - but the real joy will always come from playing for a winning, attacking side with a good pay.

Take note any players who willingly leave us for relegation fodder * down south. If you leave and want to enjoy your football, go abroad to a good side, or only move to a top six side down south (aka Tierney).


Glad to hear he still speaks fondly.

 

FORMER Celtic winger Scott Sinclair has hailed the decision to move north of the border as the best of his footballing career.

The 31-year-old joined Preston last January after being frozen out at Celtic Park.




Sinclair played a huge part of the club’s treble-treble campaign, as well as picking up the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award in his first season.

He was also the first Hoops player in 94 years to score in his first five appearances for the club.


And despite the way his Celts’ career ended, Sinclair still lauds the move he made.

Speaking on Soccer AM, Sinclair said: “It was probably one of the best decisions I ever made in my career, at that time.



There was always speculation of me going up there at that time and I had thought about other things, like could have stayed in England.

“But once I went up there, I knew how big Celtic was, but I didn’t realise how big it is until you play for them.


When you do play for them, you realise: “Wow, this is a massive club.”

Sinclair also reminisced fondly the big games he experienced at Celtic Park.

He continued: “You get to play in the Champions League or in Europe in the Europa and it is one of the best times of my career.

“It was amazing. Once you are there, these are the games you look forward to the most.


When you play in it, it is something else.

“I played in numerous derbies, but nothing compares to a Celtic and Rangers game.”

Vastly underappreciated player for us.

 

Debut season was frightening man.

Canny imagine we’ll see another player cone in and hit that level from the start and carry it on the full season.

 

The way he was used during his last six months for us was criminal.

Another player that will always be one of us. Love it. So many great memories of his time in hoops and so many big goals.

Doing it still in the championship.

Imagine what he and Elyounoussi could be doing in training and on the pitch if we still had him.

Deserved a better send off then he got. Still a quality player.
