The agent of Egypt international Mohamed Magdy has claimed his client has an offer on the table from Celtic.

Manager Neil Lennon is keen to get more new faces in the door before the transfer deadline, with a left-back thought to be the priority.

However the Premiership champions may be in the market for an attacking midfielder too, if Magdy's agent is to be believed.

Agent Abdel Rahman Ismail insists the 24-year-old has an offer on the table to move to Celtic Park, with competition from a mega-rich Saudi club.

Ismail said: "Mohamed has an offer from Celtic and one from a club in Saudi Arabia.

It's up to Al-Ahly to accept or reject the offers."

Magdy, who is also known as Afscha in his homeland, still has four years of his deal to go at Al-Ahly, who paid £900,000 to land him last year.

He would cost at least double that now and is ranked as his club's most valuable player after scoring five goals and making eight assists so far this season.

Magdy was handed his international debut by then-manager Hector Cúper two years ago and has five caps. He played in two African Cup of Nations qualifiers last year against Kenya and Comoros.
And that's alerted the Scottish champions to the African talent.

Al Ahly’s Mohamed Magdy Afsha is a target for Scottish giants Celtic, according to the player’s agent.

Afsha has only joined Al Ahly in the summer of 2019 from Pyramids FC and has quickly established himself as an integral part of the team.

The 24-year-old scored five goals while assisting eight in 29 league games as the Reds secured the Egyptian Premier League title with a remarkable tally of 89 points, 18 points ahead of runner-ups and arch-rivals Zamalek.

The ENPPI youth product also guided Al Ahly to the CAF Champions League final with two goals and further two assists in eight games in the continental competition.

And it looks like his performances has attracted the interest of Scottish giants Celtic as he emerged as a target for the club, according to the player’s agent.

“Scottish club Celtic are very interested in the services of Al Ahly’s Mohamed Magdy Afsha,” Afsha’s agent Abdelrahman Ismail said.

Celtic want to sign Afsha and then loan him out to a European club.

However, Al Ahly is against the idea of letting the player go especially as they are preparing for the CAF Champions League final,” he added.

The Red Devils will face one of Zamalek or Raja Casablanca in the final of the CAF Champions League later this month.

Afsha, who has two trophies to his name with Al Ahly, will hope to write his name in the history books with the Reds with a historic Champions League title.

It’s worth mentioning that Afsha was called-up by Egypt manager Hossam El-Badry for the Pharaohs’ next encounter against Togo in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.

We're going to be losing a lot of players next summer, so I'm happy to see us linked with players already, big January ahead.

He’s definitely a 10 from footage has a good first touch and is a pretty good passer of the ball although he is very right footed. Not sure if we are actually interested or it this is the agent trying to drum up interest in the player.

Mohamed Magdy Afsha’s agent has revealed that his client has offers from Scottish giants Celtic as well as Galatasaray and Besiktas of Turkey.

The 25-year-old has established himself as the best playmaker in Egypt following his move to Al Ahly in the summer of 2019 from Pyramids FC.

In his debut season with the Reds, Afsha managed to guide the club to the treble, most famously scoring the late winner in the CAF Champions League final against arch-rivals Zamalek.

This season, he has found the back of the net three times while assisting seven goals as Al Ahly claimed the bronze medal in the Club World Cup and are in the race for all their remaining competitions.

And it looks like Celtic like the former ENPPI youngster and are considering a move for him next summer, according to the player’s agent Abdelrahman Ismail.

Other clubs are keen on Afsha, including Turkish giants Galatasaray and Besiktas.

Galatasaray, Besiktas, and Celtic are competing to sign Mohamed Magdy Afsha,” Ismail told a local radio station.

Afsha’s contract with Al Ahly expires in 2024, and no one from the club has spoken to us about extending the contract yet.

“But Afsha is happy with Al Ahly, and if the club open negotiations about extending his contract, he will agree immediately

The Olympic national team team has not officially notified us of their desire to include Afsha in their squad for the Tokyo Olympics.

But Shawky Gharib, the coach of Egypt U23, spoke with us and confirmed that Afsha is in the 14 over-aged players preliminary list,” he added.

No Egyptian player has ever represented Celtic; however, both Besiktas and Galatasaray had a couple of Pharaohs in their squad, with the latter having Mostafa Mohamed leading their attack.

We have a decent midfield going into next year with Soro Turnbull and McGregor yet all we seem to be linked with are midfielders. We need a left back, a right back, a goalkeeper, two centre backs (one at least), two wingers and a striker (maybe two).

Come next season, there's a chance we'll only have Turnbull, Mcgregor, Soro and Robertson, that's nowhere near enough, we need at least 1 first choice CM and one CDM to compete with Soro.

A Wanyama like CDM to compete with soro, and an energetic box-to-box midfielder to replace Christie for me.

Yep. Competition for place's is healthy..

Soro has looked good, albeit rough but we know we need some more quality now Broong has gone. We needed it before now..

McGregor has been miles off it and could do with being pushed or if no performing, being dropped for someone of quality..

Turnbull has been class but we should have another option for the 10. Someone a bit different, who could beat a man with a bit of trickery and pace..

Yeah I’m with ye lads and the window hasn’t even opened yet. Just thought it strange that all of the links so far have been for midfielders when other areas need urgent attention.

Could be we want to get it out the way, Midfield is our strongest area but we still need new players there, so if we can get them in early it lets us focus on the more important positions (i.e the rest of the team lol)
