Aye it’s borderline piece of nonsense some of the criticism here. What was he meant to do with the shot that he tipped over the bar? Leave it?

Then the goal takes two deflections through a crowd. Do Forster or Barkas save that? I don’t know but it would’ve probably taken them longer to get down so maybe not. And does anyone know how good Barkas is to say that for definite yet :giggle1:

Bain has never let us down and you could say he was an important part for us kicking on after Xmas in the 18/19 season. And for the Cluj game he could maybe have done better but I’m looking at El Hamed still.

It's not borderline nonsense, it's a reasonable question to ask. He didn't tip it over either, there is a big difference to tipping over a shot coming at pace at the last minute to bracing yourself and punching the ball over your head.

For me, the shot is not powerful enough, nor has enough swerve that he shouldn't just catch it. Its at a straightforward height for someone of his calibre. I'm guessing he did it as he was aware of the boy rushing in on him and didn't want to take any chances. I've seen a few of these punches go in the completely wrong direction hence I'm not a fan of it.

I like Bain, have always backed him, think it's fair enough to comment on things like this though, although now we are at the splitting hairs stage :giggle1: agree to disagree

Fair enough. I think I’m just aware of folk being a bit hyper critical at the moment when I don’t think it’s necessarily warranted. Of course there are bits he can improve on though.

I actually have a weird hunch he will play a bigger part this season that what some expect. I hope it’s not cos Barkas isn’t up to the job :giggle1:

Bain will defos start at Killie next week for me. I doubt Lenny would stick Barkas in on the Astro for his first game.

See goals like that beating the best keepers on the planet, it takes 2 deflections man, he's blameless. Thought he did absolutely fine on Sunday.

Wouldn't be opposed to Bain getting another chance even if it is purely to give Barkas a kick up the hole

I thought when Barkas signed, Bain would stay in the team til he messed up. Barkas is never a £5m goalkeeper and not even as good as Bain, who is way more commanding.

Bain has a good rapport with team mates, defence and a better communicator. Could be helpful shoring up that defence. Might be a better keeper than Barkas on current showing in Celtic jerseys.

Would definitely be starting him next games. Young Barkas looks like a nervous wreck just now whereas Bain has been a relatively safe pair of hands for us.

I like Bain but I would still stick with Barkas

Barkas is a better keeper than Bain..

He isn't confident and was poor for their goal yesterday but he's just in the door from Greece. He'll come good..

Bain is a good back-up but let's no try and make out like he didn't have chocolate wrists on numerous occasions..

Didn’t see the big lad command his box once yesterday. Looked like he expected his defence to clear any danger and I was yelling for him to come and collect. He don’t look confident.

Bain is not the answer, we need to give Barkas a chance, he does look bereft of confidence, you could probably apply that to the vast majority of our team.
