It’s against UEFA’s rules for any sort of agreement on selections to be included in a loan deal. Coutinho playing for Bayern against Barcelona last season is the most recent example I can think of, but Bangura played against us in a qualifier a few years ago too.

 

Celtic and AC Milan will have to decide in further discussions whether Diego Laxalt will be permitted to play in all of the Hoops' Europa League games this season.

The Scottish Champions drew the Serie A giants in Group H of this season's competition and welcome them to Parkhead on match day one of the tournament.

But with left-back Laxalt poised to join Celts on loan, it is not yet known whether his parent club will allow him to play against them in the group stages. It would, perhaps, be unlikely. However Celtic have previous in a similar situation.


Patrick Roberts spent time on loan from Manchester City in Glasgow and was eligible to play against the Premier League outfit in both legs of their Champions League group stage matches. The Englishman even scored in the second tie in Manchester in a 1-1 draw after the pair had played out a 3-3 draw a few weeks previously, in a game where Roberts also featured.

It is understood that Laxalt is undergoing a medical in London ahead of his move, but talks will likely be ongoing between club chiefs beyond the closure of the window this evening.

Aye the deal would not be as far progressed as allowing the guy to leave for a medical if they had an issue with him playing against us.
It's media * to create a story and drama out of something they all got caught out, regarding they all knew * all about the deal in the first place.

Milan would not be allowing him to leave for a medical this morning if they had issues with him playing against them.
UEFA do not recognise such a rule, but do leave it to the clubs to decide if they want to allow that or not. No rule says otherwise and the deal would not be at the stage it was if Milan had any worry on that matter.

 

Agree it’s been a great window if we get this signing over the line.Once we hit the form we know we’ll be smashing the opposition.

 

On the face of it this looks like an excellent signing. When you consider the other signings in this transfer window if this goes through you have to commend the board for taking our 10 in a row bid very seriously. Rightly so, if it happens many of the people who have been heavily involved in the 'Ten' will become instant Legends.
