I genuinely believe that Bha will

1- want to avoid selling to a potential relegation rival
2- the big man, supposedly has told Bha he wants to join Celtic
3- Bha wants Edouard, and will try to incorporate a future deal somehow

Exactly this - what’s he got to lose coming here? Still gets his full pay packet from BHA and gets first team football for his boyhood club, in the 10 season no less. If PL can negotiate us a deal it’s a no brainer for the big man

Celtic have opened signing talks with Republic of Ireland defender Shane Duffy – even though they fear they’ll be blown out of the water by big-money offers from down south.

Record Sport understands the Parkhead club have held discussions with the 28-year-old and his current club Brighton as Neil Lennon attempts to lure the lifelong Hoops fan across the border.

It’s believed Duffy will be allowed to leave the south coast club on loan for a fee of £2million but a string of English clubs are ready to weigh in with massive cash bids in the hope of securing a permanent move.

West Ham boss David Moyes is leading the chase for the experienced international but West Brom, Burnley and Leeds are also at the table - leaving Celtic with little chance of matching any financial offer.

But a source close to the talks told us: “Shane has made it clear that he’s a massive Celtic supporter and that could make all the difference in terms of his decision. If he did chose Celtic then it would be more of a romantic notion rather than a financial decision.

“Celtic are certainly part of the conversation but there is also a realisation that this will be a very difficult deal to do because it’s impossible to compete with the wages on offer in the English Premier League.”

Duffy, who has three years left on his contract 2023, is considering his options after making only 19 Premier League appearances over the past season.

Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster, signed 12 months ago, are ahead of him at the Amex while Graham Potter’s newest signing, Dutch international Joel Veltman, is also set to be above him in the pecking order.

The only thing is I hope we don't drag this out. I hope we get him but if not we need to move on quickly, really want us to have a CB in before the Dundee United game.

Considering the importance of this season I'd like to think the board will go a bit extra to get signings in. However handing over £2 million that you will never see again to secure a loan deal will most likely be a stretch too far.

£2m loan for this season and £6m buy.

He could be the difference. Get it done.

2 mill and even 5 mill to sign him outright next summer could be enough..

Basically what we paid for Jullien..

One thing we know about lennon and lawell is they don't usually get loans without a option to buy at the end

They wont agree to a 6 million loan to buy, they're looking for 10 million this summer, at best we could probably get him on a loan to buy for around 8, which I'd still take

Not if the player forces the move.

They can look for £10m, but if £10m isn't on the table, they can't accept £10m.

Brighton fans want Duffy to come to Celtic so they don't strengthen a rival.

But come on guys, no chance Edouard will be considered part of the deal. When he leaves the only chance you will see him in Brighton is if he plays there for the away team.

Destined for much bigger than Brighton.

If this doesn’t happen go for McKenna in the centre of a back 3?

Definitely not, the first game of the season McKenna was dragged out of position by an overweight and no trying a leg Morelos before getting taken completely out the game by a simple through ball for their goal. There must be far better options out there.

McKenna is a donkey that Aberdeen would be looking for far too much for. Given the likely money involved this would be up there with Jack Hendry.

Cant see this one happening as too much potentially against us.

It's one that by all means see if anything can be done but don't be sitting waiting and hoping in a weeks time.
