    Scottish Premiership Top Scorer Odds

While the most important race in Scotland is for the league title, something else that is always fascinating to look at is the race to be top scorer. This is something that usually goes to a player from either Celtic or Rangers, though three of the last seven winners have been from other clubs.

The winner last year was Celtic’s striker Odsonne Edouard, who took the title with 22 league goals to his name. In the two seasons prior to that, the award was won by players scoring 18 goals so if you get anywhere near 20 then you are in with a chance of winning the golden boot in Scotland.

So, who is in the running this season and what will it take to win?

    The Main Contenders

According to the bookmakers, there are three players in contention for this award, though two could harm each other’s chances. Those using bookmaker offers can bet on this betting market where Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard is the favourite.

Edouard was the winner last season as already mentioned, scoring 22 goals to fire himself to success. He has two major positive for his chances once again this season. The first is that Celtic are going to score a lot of goals and challenge for the league title. The second is that he is the main attacking force at Celtic and should get a lot of scoring chances because of that.

Elsewhere, Rangers hold the key to the other two potential winners of this title. Alfredo Morelos is still at the club andcould now stay after a dramatic U-turn recently. Should he do so, he is a top-quality striker who can score plenty of goals, he scored 18 in 2018/19 to take the golden boot award.

However, should Morelos stay at Rangers, his chances could be harmed by the fact they have already signed his replacement in Kemar Roofe. This could result in either split playing time between the two, or both playing together and having to share the chances they get each game.

It would be no surprise to see Rangers score a lot of goals if these two play together for a big part of the season. However, it may have a detrimental affect on their chances of winning this award if they play together.

    Any Outsiders to Note?

If there is one player to challenge the top players this season it could be Kevin Nisbet, who joined Hibernian during the summer. He scored 23 goals for Dunfermline from 32 games in the Championship last season and has already bagged a hat trick this season in the Premiership.

The 23-year-old hasn’t had the easiest path but is now with a club that should do well in the top-flight, and that is only going to help him find the back of the net.

If he can maintain this good start and play with confidence, there is every chance that Nisbet could have a good season and bag 15 or more which would be enough to challenge for the top scorer award.
