I like his appetite. You could see what scoring meant to him.
To go away during the lockdown and come back in that shape was a great statement to make, and hopefully if he keeps showing the desire and work rate then the goals will keep coming and he will force his way into lennons plans.

Good movement across the line and strength to hold off the defender. We need 3 strikers we can depend on IMHO so that was big to see him not just get off the mark on day 1 of the new season but with such a well taken goal.

Embarrassing how people wrote him off after a couple of games. 10-15 goals this season will be an excellent return

On his right side, probably not. On the flip side though, Griff buries it with his left and Klimala probably doesn’t. Swings and roundabouts.

Perhaps I am being overly harsh, looking back at griffs 100 goals, the thumb scores some amount of headers.

The game was dead and gone anyway, I should have been clearer in what I meant in terms of Klimalas goal as an isolated moment, being 4-1 up, game dead, near the end. I'm not sure Griff makes the run in the first place.

What Griff has been good at in all fairness is using his quick feet to get away from markers rather then using strength to run shoulder to shoulder with defenders.

Perhaps I'm even over egging the skill and quality of Klimala's goal as well as it had taken me by surprise because of how little time he had on the pitch in the lead up to it.

It would be understandable if Patryk Klimala wanted to live in his very own bubble that allowed the Celtic striker to avoid any news of possible arrivals at his club. Hardly a day goes by without Neil Lennon’s men being linked with a new front man.

It appears a loan deal for West Ham’s Albian Ajeti is imminent, while the club have had a bid rejected for Peterborough goalscorer Ivan Toney, and made an approach to experienced forwards Steven Fletcher and Lyle Taylor

The kingpin status of Odsonne Edouard ensures chances for Klimala are already limited – even with Leigh Griffiths currently injured and Vakoun Bayo heading to Toulouse on loan. The Pole netted his first competitive Celtic goal as an 86th-minute substitute last week in the 5-1 thrashing of Hamilton Accies underpinned by an Edouard hat-trick. On the back of that, the bullish 22-year-old believes it is any new rival that should be concerned over opportunities.

I don’t see any problems with that. I don’t know what I can tell you because I am in good shape, no problems, Celtic can take another striker,” said Klimala, signed in a £3.5 million deal from Jagiellonia Białystok in January. “I don’t see the problem. I am in good shape, Odsonne is in good shape so it is difficult for others [who come in].”

Klimala isn’t getting carried away after his first Celtic strike. He knows he will start this afternoon’s game at Kilmarnock on the bench, and could wait some time for a first start, with only five substitute appearances to his name so far.

Even after bulking up and adapting to playing with his back to goal, Klimala may appear to have a mountain to climb to cement a place in the senior side. Yet he has become accustomed to scaling the heights across his six months in the country.

“I like Glasgow,” he said. “You have really nice views. I like life here. The weather for me doesn’t matter, sometimes you have sun, sometimes you have rain. Me and my fiancée often walk on the hills. We don’t have these sorts of hills in Poland. I don’t know the names of the hills. I like to go there and just chill. We go walking with our dog.”

Would like to see him up top with Ed, although can't see Neil messing around with the formation.

Really need to see what like he's going to be, can't be throwing him in from cold as we seem to do that too much and basically kill careers at Celtic.
