Any Taggart fans out there??? I have started watching this Great Cop Show from the very start recently on free Channel UK TV Player. First time seen the Brilliant Mark McManus era in ages.
I have fond memories of watching the early ones as a lad with my Auntie and Uncle In deepest Bearsden:49:
There is a Great atmosphere in the opening seasons and great to see so many different parts of Glasgow and the surrounding area and elsewhere.
And Chief Inspector Taggart, what a character and so many up and coming actors and guest appearances:84:

    Loved the original Taggart episodes.
It got gradually worse after Mark McManus. Quite like Alex Norton in 2 Doors Down but he was always going to struggle to replace McManus in this.

I was about 16/17 and my Dad used to take me to the Celtic Club on London Rd every Sunday afternoon. I absolutely loved it. Sitting with all my Dad's friends. They would tell all these amazing stories and jokes, and as a youngster I lapped it all up. One Sunday, Mark McManus came in with a few friends and sat next table to us. Great guy, and funny, * as a fart though. Then he stood up and bought our table a drink. I still tell that story to this day, Taggart bought me a pint.

I love some of the lines.....

    (discussing a colleagues generosity )

Taggart - “That man widnae gie ye the steam aff his Pish !”

    (early episode)

Taggart - “I couldny chop up a wumman.. terrible waste”

(Discovering a mans body with six bullets in his head, fired by wife)

Taggart - “whit Did he do? Forget their wedding anniversary?”

(informant in pub talking to sergeant when Burke arrives and sits down)

    informant - “who ur yoooo?”
Burke - “Am the prince of darkness !”

    Is it still being made?

If it's still in production it's about time they changed the name, as less and less people know or remember who Taggart was.

    CSI Glasgow would work.

Brilliant show back in the day when good TV and channel choice was few and far between.

Can't believe he has been dead 26 years :55:

Do you remember that episode in the early 90s which had scenes at Celtic Park while we played the Huns and won 1-0:84:

Thats the episode where Taggart is listening to the game in his office and asking his officers “which school they went to?”

You never find out which team the character was supposed to support but hinted at Celtic...

The actor was a Celtic supporter I think.

Yes well remembered Cool Bhoy and the Radio reception was Lost for a bit during a vital part of the match at the Station, much to the frustration of Taggart and his staff:56:
The Biscuit Of course went to the match in the box at Celtic Park Of course.
Yes during the series I think they dropped a couple of hints that he supported us:ynwacelti
Yes. Great Series and what a character on and off the screen he was.

I want to watch the originals, saw some highlights on one of those daft countdown shows 'Best TV detective's' or something and Taggart looked quite good.

My personal favourite is DCI Gene Hunt.

I was never a Taggart fan growing up when it was first shown..

... but I lived in west end and constantly saw them filming episodes... you couldn’t go near kelvingrove or hillhead underground’s without seeing them filming it. Had a few friends who got parts as extras a couple of times...

When I moved back to U.K. after a few years abroad I went to Leeds briefly... the place our office was based was next to a big wholesale electrical suppliers.. pretty bland building but was used as the police station in ‘Touch of Frost’.... used to see David Jason quite a bit doing the scenes outside.
