    Think we've got a top keeper here..

    Wanted Forster back at first but out-with that, Barkas has always been the keeper I wanted after..

    As Forster * about and the pedigree Barkas already has at 26....makes this a no brainer and if I'm honest...I was leaning more to him coming..

    Lurch-esque he looks and imposing but much younger. International with plenty of experience. Title winner and playing in European competition's..

    I think its a solid choice.

    Obviously after Forster's form last season I'm gutted not to have him back, but, we can't wait around forever. This guy comes here with good experience already and has won the greek league title, definitely the level of signing we need to aim for on a more consistent basis.

    CELTIC are on the verge of sealing a £4.5million deal for AEK Athens keeper Vasilis Barkas.

    The Hoops have thrashed out an agreement that will see the Greeks bank a further £900,000 in bonus payments.


    AEK are also understood to have inserted a ten per cent sell-on clause in the deal for Barkas.

    The 26-year-old is expected to sign a four-year contract with Celtic and could arrive in the coming days


    Hoops boss Neil Lennon turned his sights on the Greece goalkeeper after a move for Fraser Forster stalled.

    Barkas caught Celtic's attention during the 2018 Champions League qualifier with AEK.

    And the Hoops are now close to landing him as their new No1 keeper for the coming season.

    What a start to the week. Quality GK and striker nearly in. Hopefully add a CB and RW before the end of the window. Edouard, Ajeti and griff will annihilate teams, not to mention Moi, Forrest, Christie etc. * me man, what a difference a day makes to positivity levels haha

    Would Tsimikas be a realistic target for us? And how much do you think Olympiakos would want for him?

    Reckon he would solve our left back problems and would be ideal to help Barkas settle quickly.

    Olympiacos would probably want around 15mil pounds for him. Incredible player, has potential to play in a big English team. I think Napoli was interested in him the previous month or so. He is for sure being watched by top clubs. I dont think he is a realistic option. He would probably prefer to play in England or Italy.

    The Scottish club has returned with a new improved proposal and the agreement is final. In Celtic for four years the player

    Celtic proved that they are very interested in Vassilis Barkas and came back with a new proposal. This time the Scottish club offered 5m. euros plus one in bonuses. The conditions for AEK to get the extra million are expected to be comfortably implemented by the Greek goalkeeper and the transfer to reach 6 million. In addition, the Union maintains a 10% resale rate.

    With this offer (initially Celtic had offered 3.5 million) AEK sat on




    The player himself has already agreed with Celtic on everything, on excellent financial terms. He will fly directly to Scotland, undergo medical treatment and sign a four-year contract.

    Thus closes the case of the transfer of Barca with AEK getting an amount close to what he wanted and the footballer himself to sign an excellent contract
