His contract finishes next summer and they knocked back a £5m bid from Brentford in January. I can't see us parting with that sort of cash for a 18 year old that hasn't got any senior experience.

In 12 months time we could be well positioned for a cross-border Bosman like we did with Dembele though.

 

I think it was a strange one with Rodgers when it was someone we spent a bit of money on like Ntcham, Eddy or Sinclair they turned out a good player but inevitably with Ntcham and Sinclair coming from EPL clubs their wages were high which is fine if you make CL Groups and you get the extra revenue.

However Rodgers record when it came to trying to find players in our usual price market was terrible, Gamboa, De Vries, Benyu, Hendry, Comper, Mulumbu, Kouassi (spent a bit on him), Hayes and Morgan. There’s not many successes in that lot. I have not included Shved or Bayo in the list as not convinced by that point Rodgers had much to do with signings but both have also flopped. Mind you it’s hardly surprising when your mate dismantles your scouting network and has next to no non UK scouts.

 

Brentfords team seems to have a few really talented players in it, but unfortunately they also seem to be able to pay £10m+ for players..

 

I suppose it depends what he’s looking for. If he’s after first team football at a club that offers him the chance to win trophies then 30k+ isn’t out of our budget for a free agent (like Ledley was). If talks with Utd broke down because of money then yes, he’s out of our league financially. If they broke down because he wants guaranteed playing time though then he becomes realistic.

Been reading reports that chelsea have offered him a contract and also barca and inter have enquired.
I think this is very unlikely, would be a great signing though

I heard that we had made a bid to him and that he likes that we give youth a chance. It is an option for him and would be a minimal cost due to cross border development fees.

Aye a can remember the last time. Heard a bit of noise in work today regarding him then on the phone and I noticed a wee bit of talk on here, the fact he’s available on a free could be making it grow arms & legs possibly.

 

I cant see us going for another RB but you never know
