Patryk Klimala struggled to make much of an impression before the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown in March but Celtic’s Polish striker has been working hard during lockdown and looks determined to establish himself in the new season.

Klimala, signed in January from Jagiellonia for £3.5 million, has been doing strength and conditioning work ahead of Celtic embarking on their bid for a record tenth successive league title. The new season is due to begin behind closed doors on 1 August.“Patryck has shaved his head a few times – he’s looking like a bouncer,” revealed team-mate Callum McGregor. “He has come back looking in great condition. He’s obviously been working hard on the physical side during lockdown and he’s returned looking really strong.

He’s still looked really quick in training.

“It’s important not to lose that half a yard of pace when you are starting to bulk up a bit. But he looks in top condition and raring to go.



I’ve got a lot of sympathy for the boys who made big moves in January. It’s a whole new life for them and they are trying to settle in – but then the whole world shuts down.”

Klimala, who signed a four-and-a-half-year deal, made just four Celtic appearances before the season was shut down in March.

i take it he was a replacement buy for griffiths ?

only worry i have about buying guys for a decent amount from abroad is that if they dont get in and around the first team getting games then inevitably they become free transfers out after a couple of years at the club or weights round the clubs draining wages for 4 years or so

it is very hard to keep a 30 odd man squad happy especially when the first 11 are nailed on and performances seem to suffer when we change it even a little, maybe the answer to this is for the new guys to bulk up as we are always told we are a physical league

With lenny sticking to two up front I hope he can get a good run of game time. With qualifiers starting in August, hopefully we can see paddy get a good run off games in the league.

The bhoy looks like he is going to give it some serious effort to make a go of it due to his increased physique.

Hopefully he can make in roads in to the team this season. The way the schedule is shaping up fixture congestion will be an issue even more then usual for us and there is no mid winter break to recharge the batteries. Having Edouard and Griffiths as the main 2 strikers will not be enough especially if we plan on playing 2 strikers a lot again next season.

 

Excited to see how he gets on after a run of games. Looked to have an explosive burst of pace and picked up good positions in his few cameos.

Could be a real asset in Europe when we look to play counter attacking football.

 

There will be massive fixture congestion this season, I cannot see him not getting plenty of game time. Griff will also be playing for Scotland so all that on top of domestic will see opportunities. His overall record is not great his record last season was decent. Played 17 (started 10) scored 7 assisted 3, once they started playing him he started scoring.

 

Hopefully we can get quite a few Pre season games arranged to give Bayo, Soro, Klimala and some of the young guys some game time to assess them as well as give the first team guys minutes to get match sharp.
