We are talking about doubling his wages and still agreeing to let him go at end season, possibly a release fee and I think we should give him the 7 and have him the face of the Adidas gear and the 7 etc etc ..

Celtic have opened talks with star striker Odsonne Edouard about a new Parkhead contract.

Hoops gaffer Neil Lennon – named the William Hill Scottish Football Writers’ Association Manager of the Year – is desperate for the Frenchman to stay.




And Lenny revealed the club’s hierarchy have officially begun negotiations with the 22-year-old and his representatives about an extended stay in Glasgow.

Edouard scored 28 goals last season to help Celtic clinch nine-in-a-row. Now Lennon hopes the
former PSG kid will pen an extended deal and lead the charge for 10 successive titles.


Edouard’s deal expires in 2022 but there’s already concrete interest from former Celts boss Brendan Rodgers at Leicester.


Celtic are determined to keep him for at least one more season and Lennon plans face-to-face talks with the striker when he returns for training.

He said: “Yes, there are talks with Edouard now. These are ongoing with his representatives.


Ultimately, he’s a player we want around. He had a magnificent season and we want to keep him. It’s as simple as that.

“We’re doing everything we can to keep him here for at least another season.


“I think he’s happy here. He has got a fantastic
relationship with his team-mates and you can see how much the fans appreciate him, which is reciprocated.

“Odsonne’s grown into a top-class striker and of course, there’s going to be speculation around him but we’re comfortable with the position we’re in.



“He seems pretty happy and we’re looking forward to seeing him at training.

“We’d love to discuss things with him, and a few other players as well.”


Edouard will return to the Lennoxtown training base this weekend along with the rest of the squad for Covid-19 testing.

 

Would be delighted if he signs a year or two extension. We get to keep him next season for the 10 and still get the proper value when we do sell.

Think the fact he was one of the foreign guys who stayed here shows how much he likes it, 1 more year and leave a hero!

 

I've had that feeling he'd stay anyway..

Seems to be that inkling from Lenny and other player's like Griff etc that he's up for it..

As @Keano88 says a 2 year deal but with the promise he can go next season for 30 mill with the 10 secured. Everyone's a winner..

 

He is staying for the 10, what i dont get is that some people on here are saying then he can go for £30 Million, thats underating his value.

I know football is up in the air now and clubs might not have the money to buy him just now , things can improve after a season has gone by then things will change , until then he will stay.

Covid will never be over but it will be safer to move abroad .

I think people are suggesting as use the £30 million buyout clause as a carrot to get him to stay for another season.

His agent might be reluctant to let him commit to a 2 year extension, only for us to stick our heels in and play hard ball next summer.

 

We won't get more than 30 million for him realistically 30 at most or same sort of price as Tierney with a sell on. Fact is we play in the spl teams aren't going to pay more than that.

 

Its up to Eddie on what he does , i dont think he is stupid , agent are there to get the best deal for a player .... also the better the deal the more the agent gets.
