I have seen the the Goldfinch and another I think a small green finch behave like that before. I was amazed at how they seemed to be playing with each other flying on and off the same branches. Really very chummy.

Three years ago today I arrived in Aviemore for a weeks stay and to collect my late Boxer Jasmine’s ashes who sadly passed away while we stayed in Kingussie in March that year. I remember bursting into tears after I walked out the Vet’s door and went for a walk torwards Boat Of Garden:49:
So I was here for my late Jazzy, before going to the Vets in Aviemore I had seen singing Wood Warblers,Spotted Flycatchers And a closeby Bank Vole running in and out it’s hole.
Then after getting her ashes on a walk thinking all about her I got Stonechats and a lovely Male Redstart.
What did I see next day, wait and see:49::84:

2 years ago today I did my first full day with Ruby Boxer in the Highlands staying in Kingussie for 10 nights Having arrived the day before.
We got up early and left the Cottage at 4.24am. At a cook local Loch I got Sensational views of a stunning Black Throated Diver, only my 2nd ever Summer plumaged one. After 15 mins watching the handsome bird Ruby Barked to play or move on :56:
So off we carried on through the Moor gaining 2 Cuckoos then on the tops a pair of Ptarmigan,at a bog a fine Dunlin and a cool Merlin whizzed past.
Ruby Roo really got exited see Mountain Hares for the first time, over 30 seen:84:
Now tomorrow is another story to be told and yes a I had a few beers later. :84:

Just back from 3 days fishing trip from a remote area up north.
I slept in my car and kept a good social distance.
Highlights were osprey hovering above the river diving down for a fish, but it was too far away from any decent picture opportunity.
Also saw an otter run right by the car but he was too quick for me...I also caught this
    Beautiful

Lovely Fish there Sonic, I posted a few pictures a couple of pages back about the Salmon in Balisodare falls with the parasites, you seem to know your Fish, could you give any info on this condition? I was at the falls yesterday and the Fish are in an awful state, there's carcasses all over but I suppose it's rich pickings for the Gulls and Herons. rsz_img_3595.jpg rsz_img_3598.jpg

    Hi Johnibhoy
Yes this can happen with drought conditions and hot weather, we call it fungi but there is a Latin name for it too.

The only cure is if they get back to sea and the salt helps...but these fish are doomed.

Some with just a little fungus can recover if the drought ends and water temp cools.

3 years today based in Aviemore it was a very wet morning but i managed after a fair bit of patience and taking cover get cracking views of a stunning Summer plumaged Slavonian Grebe on a cool Lochan. Then next stop a delighted Woodland spot gave me a Pied Flycatcher male,Wood Warbler and loads of Spotted Flycatchers.
Then to one of my favourite Lochs to visit a fine pair of Ospreys i know so well.Insects on the Loch had been forced down so Numerous Sand Martins and a number of House Martins and Swallows were hawking after them. Also i got good views of a pair of Redpoll.
I got a Large Fish Supper in South Aviemore, but in the wet it fell apart and collapsed onto the road!!:56:I swore loudly, losing my temper briefly slagging off the Chippy. But soon laughed it off and then went to the North Aviemore Chippy to get another Large Fish Supper, this time with Battered Black Pudding riding Shotgun:56:

2 years ago today it was getting warm and sunny so the massive slog was put off for the time being and i did a reasonable sized walk thinking of Ruby Roo through Woods,Heath and Moorland just north west of Kingussie.A super Red Squirrel got Ruby Roo excited, great to see Golden Ringed Dragonflies, beautiful they are, first time i had seem them in ages. Also super Green Tiger Beetles,Ruby saw one:49:
Also 2 family parties of Stonechat,Ring Ouzel,Wheatears and 4 Spotted Dragonflies were noted. We covered the area of Ruby Roo's Sister in the Sky Jasmines last ever walk, for she collapsed in this area on March 13th 2017,and never fully recovered and died in the very early hours of the 15th.Ruby Roo seemed to sense something something when i stopped at the spot she fell:49:Also on the Jasmine trail i saw my first ever Speckled Wood Butterfly for the Highlands,i think Jazzy sent it:84:
