Well I've seen loads of wildlife over the last week ; Roe Deer , a Toad , Brown Hares , Rabbits , Red Squirrel , Coots , Swans , Buzzards , Beetles , Pheasants , a dead Grey Squirrel ( rarely see Greys nowadays ) , Brown trout and a Hedgehog . There was fresh snow visible on the back hills , I clearly saw it this morning on my commute . At the weekend I walked around a wood that was carpeted with Wild Hyacinths . A great sight , and it doesn't last too long , so worth seeing .

The Garden Warbler is still singing in my local patch,so looks like they well nest with a bit of luck,as i am pretty sure i saw another silent one.The Garden Warbler is a handsome Brownish bird with a lovely medium rich song, one of my favourite songs in the Bird world.

I had a walk around Kellystown this morning, it was pretty quiet with not much in the way of birdlife, maybe the cold wind kept them in. could someone I.D. the last two pics please, I think the first is a fledgling of some sort? haven't a clue what breed the ducks are, the one at the back had a long pointy tail.

I leave the house at 6.20 in the morning , so at this time of year the wildlife world is up and about . I spotted a Heron standing in the local river , and an Oyster Catcher scaring off a Crow . It probably had a nest or even a youngster close by .

More superb pictures Johnie, the ducks are a fine pair of Long Tailed Duck, which are almost entirely winter visits to our shores, some like these hang around until right into late Spring and a few over summer:50:

Johniebhoy, I'm not too sure of the back one , but the front one could be a GARGANEY. Not sure but hopefully one of our great wee gang will be able to tell you if it's not a Garganey.

Thanks Cider. The white Line going down the head of the first one reminded me of a Garganey.

Long-Tailed Ducks are stunning ducks good friend. In fact the first time I ever saw one was one of my best birding days.
We were up at the RSPB Reserve at Vane Farm in Perthshire and my daughter and I were so excited about seeing a Long-Tailed Duck for the first time, but moments later our first WHITE-TAILED SEA EAGLE flew in and landed near the loch. Could only see it through bins, so we couldn't get a photo, but what a sighting. Massive bird, and stunningly beautiful too. What a day.

Thanks Pete, I suppose it makes sense to call a duck with a long tail a long tailed Duck.:56:
