He looked waist deep in wet concrete.. nope.. he just couldn't get near a man with the style to put him to the sword. But we could argue about that all day.

Everything I said there could be said about Khabib x10? lol.

Yeah Khabib is an animal in the pocket and a great leg kicker.

You seem utterly convinced Khabib will have his way with Justin. Again I'll ask you, when has he ever faced anyone even remotely close Justin in terms of wrestling credentials?

Khabib is hittable, but not if you are utterly terrified of him grabbing a hold of your legs as many before have shown. Justin will be a different ball game.

Cheers for that mate. I'll be sure to back Gaethje all the way when he joins the Ultimate Leg Kicking Championship.

Until then he'll remain a top 5 fighter with a questionable gas tank who got bounced off a washed up Alvarez.

You cling onto Gaethje 1.0, I'm more interested in Gaethje 2.0 who is on an absolutely flawless 4 fight winning streak.

The issue with Justin.. he has been taken down by far lesser grapplers.

    etc.

However, he has a excellent ability to scramble and get back to his feet once he has been taken down... obviously stemming from his background as a D1 wrestler..
Only in a few circumstances, has any fighter maintained any sort of top control.

The first round is going to be paramount for Gaethje, against Khabib.. he cant allow himself to be backed up against the cage, and if he is taken down, will he be able to successfully scramble and prevent Khabib from wrapping up his legs and controlling him for the rest of the round..

Unlike Tony, Justin is no submission threat off his back.

Tony is an absolute warrior who’ll always compete but last night just felt like one of those fights who’ll take years off a guy. It was a massacre.

Canny see him ever being the same and think he’ll go the same way as Lawler/MacDonald after their war.

But if anycunt can come through that and be the same fighter then it’s Tony.

He definitely can get taken down by Khabib.. no question there, but like you say it will be against the cage, not in the open. Justin has really good hips and excellent get up ability. Also very true he is no submission threat off his back. The thing that impresses me about Justin's grappling is just how easily he got up after that Poirier half takedown.

I believe over five rounds it suits Gaethje.. his gas tank is insane and Khabib has already shown his ability to force takedowns tends to diminish after two rounds. Gaethje is accurate as * and those leg kicks and left hooks are money.

I have to think that's pretty much the end of his career at 36 years old.

At the end when he was shaking his head, my first thought was MacDonald and his nose.

You’re only really as good as your last fight, and he was the best we’ve seen him in every way.

That beating last night made MacDonald's nose look like a paper cut :giggle1:

Huge credit to the two of them though. Interestingly, after MacDonald's beating he started talking about Jesus and * and saying he doesn't like hurting people any more. He's * awful these days. I bet on him in his last fight against Lima and it was an embarrassingly poor performance.

Gaethje was pretty much flawless and proved that a game plan can make a huge difference. He was composed in the big moments where he’d have rushed before.

    Khabib mauls him though.

Props to Herb Dean for his timing on the stoppage. A coup de grâce would have been ugly and unecessary.

    UFC on tonight don't forget..

I think Glover can get Smith tonight.. also fancy Dober. Bet of the night for me is Benitez as an underdog on the undercard.

    Some performance from Glover.

    Ridiculous heart from Smith.
