    Weird guy, great actor.
One of the best of a generation (the generation that's after the likes of deniro, Freeman etc.

Would say him, Di caprio, bale, Pitt and mcconaughey are amongst the best current actors.

For your list of not seen, born on the 4th and interview with a vamp are a must and judging by your ratings on his other stuff, id be shocked if you didn't like these two.

Jack reacher, personally I like, but I get it's not for others, if you're into mission impossible, action/thriller(debatable word choice) then sure, but can see why most would chalk it off as being generic Hollywood guff. It does not highlight his acting abilities much at all. But worth the watch.

The other two, not seen them yet, though I keep meaning to watch Valkyrie.

Iam a big fan of all those actors but would have Di Caprio and Denzel in a level above them and Woody Harrelson

I could see the argument for do caprio being the level above, but Denzel for me isn't on a par with any of them, he is certainly the level below.

    Harrelson, debatable as well

I always liked him in the first things I saw him in, namely Kingpin and White Men Can't Jump, but as the years have gone on he's become one of my favourite ever actors.

People v Larry Flynt, Natural Born Killers, No Country for Old Men, 3 Billboards..., and also even Cheers. Was extremely disappointed when I found out halfway through first series of True Detective that he wasn't in second series, as he's brilliant in that.

To keep it relevant to the thread, i much prefer his movies over that wee creep Tom Cruise.

    Everyone has diff opinions :50:

Would say Cruise is probs in my top fav actors of my generation (an 80's child)

    Di Caprio
    Denzel

    Cruise
    Bale
    McConaughey
Pitt (tbh last 10/20 years only fight club an se7en b4 then)
    Harrelson

    Arnie
    Stallone
    Cage

Them 3 for a bit of fun to watch

I'm imagining you are perhaps a few years older than me then and maybe appreciate the likes of Denzel a bit more than I do. Most of what ive seen of him comes from the early 2000s onwards and I'm just not impressed. Very samey - much like the mentioned Cage, ago I do think both are good actors, they just wouldn't make a "top" list for me.

Me and the old flatmate used to love talking this * as well, such a good topic to discuss as it is so broad and everyone can have a different opinion with loads of examples of great films.

End if the day though, we always agreed, much like yourself, that guys like cruise, Pitt are great but di caprio will go down as the best of his generation.

For me, Di caprio, Pitt, bale, they are the modern equivalent of deniro, Pacino, etc.

Not sure who I see coming through Inn the under 30 bracket that could be seen as a great in the next 20 years.

I do think that Zac Efron could do well (think the change in Di caprio after titanic and in to the new millennium) if he keeps going the way he is, shaking off the heartthrob stereotype and taking some more serious roles.

Fantastic actor one of the best of all time but as he lacks that cool factor he never gets the credit. Tom Hardy basically plays the same charachter in every film but as he has that cool gets credit, but Cruise is a million times better actor.

I’m not a big fan of him overall.

Loved Mission Impossible 2 when I was wee, seen it a million times.

Most recent I’ve seen was American Made and it’s fantastic, he’s really good in it.

Tropic Thunder showed a different side of him too albeit a glorified cameo.
