Springer Spaniel would fit the bill without doubt:50:

This is on our radar along with an Aussie shepherd (Which yeah, we know is not too dissimilar to the border collie in terms of energy or stimulation required)

I had a German shepherd/Labrador cross, was absolutely ideal for those attributes.

If you think a collie is hyper. My ex had 2 springer spaniels and they were mental.

    Golden retriever ?

American Bulldog. Big * doesn’t like walking. Get about half an hour in and he lays in the grass and laughs at me.

I had been pushing for a Vizsla as it also ticks the requisite boxes but the wife thinks it looks a bit too sad/dull. Labs/retrievers are known to us but we find them a bit boring in terms of temperament

There's a retriever next door to me and it's honestly the friendliest dog I think I've ever came across. It just walks about on a public bit of grass nearly all day. When the school is finishing it gets attention off every single one of the kids when they're walking home. Starts off standing, then sitting before ending up sprawled put across the path getting it's belly rubbed.

    What about a rottweiler ?

:56: :56: my we * Lhasa apso does that when he notices we are walking home and hes not done yet. * plonked on ground and even if you try to drag him he'll happily be upside down getting dragged :56:

Aye he may be smaller than the bulldog so you could drag him, but imagine the looks I'd get :56: goes pure limp if you try pick him up aswel and wags his we tail. Proper we * :56:

My old dear just sent me old pics she found (including me as a 13 year old)

This was my childhood dug, Benji. He was 15 when he passed so had a good innings, still miss him to this day. Especially in this nice weather when he'd take a dip in the rivers on holiday, Blair Atholl was our summer haunt.

Absolutely a beagle mate, phenomenal dog. Loving, energetic enough, very caring and clever. Can be quite stubborn but they are great with children.

Don't think I'd have anything else now.

A Labrador would be great for families as they have a brilliant temperament and not too energetic.

FWIW, we settled on a blue merle Australian Shepherd - put a deposit down with a 10 day old, we'll be back in 10 weeks to pick him up
