The highly indebted football third division club 1. FC Kaiserslauternwill file for bankruptcy, according to concurring media reports. According to information from the "Kicker" and the SWR, the four-time German champion plans to make an application to the district court of Kaiserslautern in the next few days. The Palatines are now said to be racking up debts of around 24 million euros and needing about 15 million euros to issue the license for the coming season.

The association apparently seeks insolvency proceedings under self-administration – a so-called plan insolvency. This would allow the four-time German champion to rehabilitate himself and avert the impending crash. This Monday, the association's management will inform about the economic situation and the planned steps at a press conference.

Sportingly, the move has no consequences for the Red Devils. The German Football Association has suspended the nine-point deduction provided for in the event of an insolvency application because of the Corona crisis. FCK is currently 12th in the third division with 44 points. The cushion to a relegation rank is seven counters.

In recent weeks, the FCK leadership, led by Advisory Board Spokesman Markus Merk and Managing Director Soeren Oliver Voigt, had been intensively looking for ways out of the financial crisis. However, the hoped-for debt reduction did not materialize because potential investors apparently do not want to make their money available until after the complete restructuring of the association.
The creditors of the founding member of the Bundesliga are now threatening to run out of money. In addition to the main donors – the Stuttgart-based company Quattrex, the sports marketer Lagardére and the Luxembourg entrepreneur Flavio Becca – this also includes many supporters of the club, who had bought fan bonds in 2019 for a total of around three million euros.

Sportswear manufacturer Umbro have said they will not be promoting Linfield's new football kit on any of their channels.

Last Friday, the Irish Premiership club denied that their newly unveiled away kit for the 2020/21 campaign has been influenced or is in tribute to any third party.

The kit, which is purple with a diagonal orange stripe crossing down from the left shoulder, caused a stir on social media when it was unveiled, with people comparing it to a flag of the loyalist paramilitary group, the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF).

In a statement, Linfield said the likeness between the jersey and the flag was "totally coincidental".

"The design has met with approval from large numbers of supporters but unfortunately and sadly, there have been certain suggestions from a small number from outside the club which this club can not ignore," the statement read.

"For the avoidance of all doubt, the design is of a football kit for a football club and any similarity/likeness/resemblance with any other design used by any other entity is totally coincidental and entirely unintentional.

"Any allegation or inference to the contrary is robustly and vigorously rejected by this club which prides itself on being inclusive, open to all and representative of all."

On Monday, Umbro released their own statement in relation to the kit.

"At Umbro we believe in the unifying and democratic power of football," it read.

"This is why we are opposed to all forms of discrimination, discriminatory behaviour and violence.

"Kit designs are a collaborative process and this kit was based purely on guidance from the club. We apologise unreservedly for any offence we have unintentionally been party to.

"Furthermore there will be no promotion of this product on any Umbro channels."

The Swiss League starts back this weekend, we have a little interest in it since with 11 games to go Basel are in 3rd 5 points off the top - we don't want them to win the League or they will make us unseeded in the last CL qualifying round which will have Ajax, Salzburg, Olympiacos and then Basel as the 4 seeded teams.

Ad said elsewhere.... they don’t need to promote it.. while the decent and right of thinking know the issue here... they’re not the potential market. The filth who who will/might/could buy it have just had their interest stoked by the new notoriety that has been stirred up.

I expect there will be quite a few marching on treadmills this summer and then in the ibrokes stands once fans come back.

Corruption in the Galatasaray game there for sure, * scored an equaliser then VAR spent about 5 minutes looking at non incidents and pulled it back to give Galatasaray a foul for something that happened about 2 minutes before the goal :56: * shocking

Haha refs well at it, gave the team a penalty now to equalise again. Looks soft but should stand, Ref must have been raging at having to disallow that other equaliser.

103 minutes into a game with 6 minutes added lol

They scored it to equalise, madness there though.

Guy scored a beauty of an over head kick as well for a 93rd minute equaliser then they spent ages - probably about 6 minutes looking at VAR before calling the Ref over to look at an incident about 2 minutes before the goal at the opposite end corner flag for a freekick to Galatasaray which was soft s *.

Game ended on 104 and a half minutes despite there only being 6 minutes added on and it was all over VAR at the disalllowing of the goal.
