Where would he fit if we continue with the 3-5-2? We could play him at CAM but we have Christie and Rogic there already, and we're already shoe-horning Forrest in at RWB

If we're going back to a 4 at the back he'd be perfect competition for Forrest tho, and i think he'll be desperate to come back.

This would be a great bit of business. He should have been signed permanently before now, transfer fee might well have been a stumbling block. He has went back down and it's not happened for him. It has driven his price down and for £3m I would be all for it. We know how good he is.

All the hypothetical positions and formations are immaterial.

Would he enhance our squad? Absolutely. Is 3 million or anything around that figure practically theft? Also absolutely.

The guy is a class act, provides a spark and something different, loves Celtic, we love him and he still has his barbers up here with his best mate in Maryhill so has ties.

    Complete no brainer.

My only concern with him is that he seems to be injured quite often

should fit right in as we seem to have more than our fair share

will be very surprised if we can get him for such a low price.. low relative to EPL

As ever problem would be wages. City will have given him a ridiculous contract so unlikely we’d either break our structure or he’d massively reduce his demands.

For 3 million would be a good deal

I was a big fan of him, still am to an extent. If this was last summer I'd have bitten your hand off. I'd probably still take him at 3m but his fitness leaves a lot to be desired these days. Wonderful technician but a serious fitness problem it seems.

Anyone saying they wouldn't take him for 3 million needs to * Carol Baskin then get eaten by some tigers.

Guy is an absolute baller, we have wasted countless cash in the past on players who we'v no idea about and play * all, we know what Paddy can do, he is better than every single current bun player and at 3m its a steal.

No more KT would be the biggest stumbling block here.

Why will Man City have given him a ‘ridiculous’ contract? He’s barely featured for them. I think it’s more likely he’ll be within our budget.

To be fair he was turning out for Fulham in the Championship when they first prised him away and onto a 5 year deal. Pretty sure I've seen it rumoured that it was initially £25k a week he was on and in May 2019 he signed a 2-year extension. I think it's safe to assume there was a bump up.

I think he's still within budget but any package for him on his current terms would still make him one of our top earners.

I would rather spend the 3 million plus on a package to keep eddy at the club for a bit longer

If he can stay fit and find the form he had when he was here then £3m is a steal.

I also don’t think wages would be a huge problem.

Even if he’s on a lot at City I think he would take a significant cut to get his career back on track.

He’s not played a huge amount of games in the last two seasons so I think when that City contract expires he would have to take a big cut anyway. He might as well come here, get his career going again and maybe earn more money in his prime years if things go well.

All that being said I don’t think we’ll be buying anyone until the pandemic is over.

The reality is he has only played 22 games since leaving us. His injury record is also fairly poor (that includes his last season with us). At £3m he is worth the risk but I wouldn't be in a massive rush to pay much extra.
Man City must really regret not selling to us a couple of years ago
