    As a player, he was an all-time great, and deserving legend status.

    As a man, he is a mixed bag. I've lived for most of the last 40+ years in the same town as him. Many speak highly of him, and the charity work he does, although whenever I've encountered him, or close friends have (whose opinions I trust) , he's usually come across as a miserable, mean or selfish man.

    Only remember him at Liverpool. He's so synonymous with them that it's maybe tricky to associate him with Celtic unless you saw him then.

    He has to be.,. Just a bit confused nowadays due to his subsequent success and same status at Liverpool.

    unfortunately I think he sees himself almost exclusively as the Liverpool legend.

    I remember him playing for us, he was a great striker.

    But my opinion of him went right downhill when he left (I was quite young). His return did nothing to change that.

    To me he has nowhere the status that others of that era. McGrain, Burns, McCluskey and of course Andy Lynch.

    But I wish him well & appreciate what he did for us.

    Maybe I'm being harsh on him. I was only about 9 or 10 at the time.

    But I do find it difficult to put him on as high a pedestal as others.
