    The Story Of' is a web series dedicated to small but special tales from Celtic’s illustrious history. Here, we look back at Mika Lustig's unusual derby day headgear.

    WHAT could be better than watching James Forrest score his first ever Glasgow derby goal to make it 3-0 against your rivals before half-time, on an afternoon where you could also clinch the league title? All of that, but with a typically eccentric Mikael Lustig celebration tacked on at the end.

    On April 29, 2018, Celtic ran out 5-0 winners on a sunny afternoon at Paradise, and indeed secured their seventh consecutive league title.

    A first half double from Odsonne Edouard, as well as strikes from Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic complemented Forrest’s goal, and while Lustig wasn’t on the score sheet, the Swedish right-back borrowed a police officer’s hat in the immediate aftermath of the third goal.




    To be honest, I feel a little bit bad about it,” Lustig told the Celtic View afterwards. “James has just scored his first goal against Rangers, he’s obviously over the moon, and the focus is suddenly shifted to me wearing a policeman’s hat.

    “It should be all about him, but after the game I think they talked more about me and my celebration than about him and his great goal!”

    Lustig explained that, in his defence, it all happened in the moment. He said the celebration underlined the magnitude of the occasion, and highlighted what it meant to him and his team-mates with a league title in sight.

    He added: “Let me also say this – I think it speaks volumes for James and the quality of the goal that it made me act in this way. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!

    “Joking aside, James was one of my closest friends when I was in Glasgow. He still is from afar, so to see him score that goal in that moment made me behave a little crazier than I might normally have.”
