A few years ago on one of our regular trips on the banks of the River Clyde, my daughter and I saw a Grey Seal.swimming up the river.
Right near to where the Clyde is closest to Paradise. It stuck it's head out the water and had a right good look at us. I also seen Harbour Seals swimming into a cave in Bass Rock. We were on a boat watching Gannets. We also saw Porpoise that day. One of my best wildlife days ever. I'd urge all of you to go to Bass Rock. You'll NOT be disappointed. It's loud and smells a bit, but SUPERB.

On this day 9 years ago I did a massive walk up into the North Wales Moorland Valleys. Out all day. Lovely sunny day with a slight breeze.
My reward for coming up a long windy road and through rough ground and heather was first 2 superb Male Hen Harriers then at the top this cool Hill I know well a fine on territory pair of Hen Harriers. Excellent views.
A female Peregrine was noted overhead as I checked the next valley seeing another pair of Hen Harrier.
Then back to the top of my Hill for lunch and a 2 hour scan where a female Merlin was seen. Then amazing close up views of a hunting pair of Short Eared Owls. I saw them actually catch voles and
    Swallow them whole!!
One of the Short Eared Owls actually sparred with the resident female Hen Harrier,Brilliant!!
Then later as dusk settled in much further down the Valley a different Short Eared Owl did a last hunt before bed as they mostly a day Time Hunter. Another Male Hen Harrier was also seen as was a Brown Hare. One of the Great days!!

Oh on my daily walk today what is now called Corona Walk on my local patch one of the local Green Woodpeckers flew right past me as 3 Great Spotted Woodpeckers were drumming at the same time in the spread out woods.
2 Redpoll flew overhead and my first Tree Pipits Of The year passed through,2 of them. Also 2 different Female Sparrowhawks were also seen.

A few from todays walk on the shores of loch Gill, first time I've seen a Grebe in the flesh and hopefully not the last, I couldn't get a clear shot for the rushes but I'll keep my eye out for it again.

I used to keep Ducks a few years ago,( Its hard to beat a fresh Duck egg on your toast in the morning) we had a bath sunk into the ground for them to bathe in, when the drake was having his way with the duck it always seemed a bit brutal as when he mounted her he'd hold her head under the water with his bill.

Today at work I saw a Heron lazily fly over the work's yard , and alight on the roof of a house . I noted a Pied Wagtail too . But the real revelation was seeing Ants moving about on the ground . A surefire sign that it's getting warmer . And although I had to defrost my car yesterday morning , it was 15.5 C' on my drive home this afternoon .

Thanks John, I’ve often seen the mating ritual on the Telly and would love to witness it, I was out early this morning and followed the same path but there was no sign of him/her but I’ll keep looking...

Out on my walk yesterday it was warm and still, so I thought I'd see loads, and maybe a few returning migrants in the hedgerows. However, only saw a couple of Linnets (lovely little birds I think they are). However it was much better when I got home. A Red Kite drifted lazily high overhead, a couple of Buzzards soared on the thermals, and two early Orange Tips fluttered around the garden - the first of the year I've seen. Tried to get a photo, but they never seem to land! Then I noticed Jackdaws building a nest in next doors chimney. One stayed guard the whole time, whilst the other collected wood, and on returning, dived head first down the narrow chimney, twig in beak. I was glad he re-appeared back out the chimney and not in next door's living room. They were building until it was dark, and have been busy all day so far today as well. Today on my daily Corona Walk with Ruby Roo I was delighted to see an ever so handsome make Ring Ouzel pass through my local patch. One if my favourite birds.
After lapping up great views of the Ring Ouzel off he flew barely 30 seconds later one of the local Green Woodpeckers flew from the deck right past me,great views.
Then Great Spotted Woodpecker landing on top of the tree where the the Ring Ouzel was:84:
I also got a good view of a passing through Tree Pipit. A great walk,Ruby Roo lived it:49:
