Sacking the CMO the week or 2 before the peak of an epidemic is obviously seen by her to be a worse decision than keeping her on and allowing her the opportunity to apologise.

Yip, I’ve also said I’d have no issues if she was sacked and she was in the wrong.

Issue I have is with Unionist clowns on social media jumping on it.

As Anton said, our hallowed Prince not only flouted the rules but he actually brought coronavirus to Scotland and potentially infected an entire town. Where was he being slaughtered personally and professionally? Almost nowhere because the press had no ulterior motive.

Her actions and Sturgeon's unwillingness to deal with the matter are now the key talking points.

Calderwood has completely undermined her position. If Sturgeon sticks up for her then her authority will be questioned too.

The situation is as bad as Rangers' PR.

I was reading she is a gynaecologist and has zero experience in the field she's now deemed the expert.

Maybe the government realised they needed someone that was good at dealing with fannies for this job?

Genuine question, but where are you hearing that she’s so good at her job?

We’re currently in the admits of the worst medical crises in living memory, and Scotland’s Chief Medical Officer is flaunting her own rules and advice by visiting her holiday home two weeks on the trot. That would suggest someone failing at their job at the most basic level.

It's not "failing at their job" in the slightest. Her job isn't to not drive to her second home. She failed at using common sense and heeding her own advice and advice from others.

There's been plenty of stuff on Twitter and online about her credentials. This below paints her in a good picture as well. And the fact she's in the position she's in would suggest she's good at her job.

That article is a story about her early lieu and her CV before becoming a gynaecologist.

Failing to follow your own professional advice is a basic failure of your job.

I had a rant about Calderwood, and I stand by it.

Take no joy whatsoever in her resignation but I'm not sure there was any way she could continue in the CMO role. Disappointing but she made a very messy bed to lie in.

Hopefully she can continue to carry out the great work she does / has done which I have read about since this morning.

The hypocrisy of sports like formula 1 is disgusting.... Feeling sorry for themselves at the prospect of having to go ‘budget’ but still resisting the need to be more modest in running costs.

Drivers who earn multi- millions every year and live in Monaco or Swiss havens to avoid paying much if any taxes....

Poor dears the lot of them.
