    Valid arguement for now..

Things won’t be as critical by July/August..
football grounds don’t need a whole hospital worth of folk.. just some paramedic crews...

Im sure private medical support could be found if necessary.

The SPFL "would have a case" to keep European placings if the Scottish campaign was called early, says former Scottish FA compliance officer Tony McGlennan.

Uefa warned last week that ending competitions prematurely could result in forfeiting Champions League and Europa League spots.

The SPFL have yet to decide how to proceed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

"This is a hugely unenviable task," McGlennan told BBC Scotland.

"The SPFL have to do what they consider right for their members. There will be varying interests within that, financial pressures, clubs in distress who will be looking at distribution of prize money.

"Equally, they will have their future relationship with Uefa to consider, they will also have where this may leave them in terms of eligibility for European competition.

    "It's a risk-based analysis for the SPFL."

Uefa's response was triggered after Belgium became the first to declare an end to their 19-20 campaign early, with the Belgian Pro League having since said they have received assurances from Europe's governing body that they would not force leagues to continue.

Currently, Celtic are 13 points clear at the top of the Scottish top flight, meaning they would be in line for a Champions League qualification spot. There are three other Europa League spots to allocate, with Rangers and Motherwell set to benefit if the Premiership was called now.

The Scottish Cup semi-finals were scheduled for this weekend.

The regulations for both European competitions state that placings will be awarded on the principle of sporting merit, and it is in this wording that McGlennan, now having returned to life as a solicitor after four years at Hampden, believes the Scottish league body may have a case.

"I don't see that term further defined in the regulations, nor is there reference of that being at the conclusion of a season," he said.

"If [the SPFL] have financial or other reasons which is encouraging them to call or declare their league, there would be, on the basis of that criteria, an argument to say the final standing is based on sporting merit.

"Against that, there is a difficulty for them as they will be seemingly doing it in the teeth of Uefa opposition. It's a quandary.

"They would have a case, as far as I can see, to take this course of action and argue it with Uefa. I suspect that they may be more comfortable doing it with Uefa's acquiescence."

    'Closed-door games won't help'
While the focus has primarily been on either finishing the season or calling it now, the notion of playing games behind closed doors has also been floated.

On Friday, Uefa lifted a ban on showing games at 15:00 on a Saturday live on TV in England and Scotland in what is seen as moves towards restarting some domestic competitions in the UK without supporters.

However, McGlennan does not believe this is a viable option, either from a safety point of view or as a solution to hold up sporting merit.

"A game played behind closed doors doesn't have the same conditions as a game played live," he said. "Most obviously, the home team doesn't game the usual home support benefit.

"If we play games behind closed doors, inevitably there is the greater risk of crowds gathering nearer stadia, of gatherings to watch the match on TV. It's hard to see how that would help the current situation."

UEFA president has said something along the lines that he cannot see a way Liverpool would not win the title. Whether it’s by playing the remaining games or if they couldn’t be played, they would find a way to declare champions.

The summer transfer window will be moved and contracts ending on 30 June will be extended for a short period under proposals agreed by football's major stakeholders.

BBC Sport understands talks initiated by world governing body Fifa and including confederations, federations, clubs, players and leagues have reached agreement over a number of issues arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic.

All parties now accept that completing the 2019-20 season by 30 June, as initially hoped, will not happen.

Aleksander Ceferin, president of European governing body Uefa, has spoken of the campaign being concluded in August, but with domestic leagues and cups, plus European competitions to fit in, there is no guarantee of that given football across the continent remains suspended.

As the crisis is global, agreement has been reached that contracts due to expire on dates before the expected end of this season, do so when it actually ends instead, with new deals beginning before the 2020-21 campaign eventually begins.

New dates for the transfer window - which had been moved back to 1 September in England - will be sanctioned by Fifa providing they fall between the two seasons, with the organisation pledging to try to harmonise the dates as much as possible so clubs and leagues are not unfairly disrupted.

Fifa has also urged clubs to protect jobs if at all possible, including pay cuts and deferrals, and the use of government schemes.

If asked to settle disputes, Fifa will, among other things, assess whether there has been a genuine attempt to find a resolution, what the economic status of the club concerned is, the net income of the players and whether the players have been treated fairly.

While it is accepted this advice is for guidance only and could be challenged legally, all parties hope it will be accepted in the spirit the contracts were agreed in the first place.

Anyone that's worried about if we'll get the title....don't be..

It's 100% staying where it is. Two options...

Play behind closed doors. Win the league
League standings final. Win the league

    The league is won..

SCOTTISH football chiefs are set to map out a way forward in the next 24 hours.

SPFL bosses will hold a board meeting by conference call on Tuesday to discuss how best to proceed.

SunSport has learned they hope to come up with a plan to take to the country’s clubs on Wednesday.

Premiership leaders Celtic and boss Neil Lennon have always maintained they would rather resume the season than be declared champions.

But other clubs are desperate to receive their prize money so they can pay mounting bills.

There are a number of different possibilities to be discussed, with some form of league reconstruction likely to be tabled as an option to avoid relegating Hearts from the top flight.

An SPFL source said: “The next two days should tell us a lot more about the direction we’ll be heading in.

“Nothing is certain as things stand and it’s impossible to predict how things will go.

People tend to keep their cards close to their chest at times like these.

“The board will discuss the whole situation and it’s likely they’ll look to lead the debate on Wednesday and make its recommendations.

“We’ll then discover if there is any consensus behind one particular future model or not and, if so, what that is.”

The SPFL board will approach clubs in each of the four divisions in staggered calls on Wednesday.

The source said: “Being a members’ organisation, it will come down to a vote on the way forward and it’s possible that could happen this week.”

The SPFL have noted how Fifa is to confirm an indefinite extension to the 2019-20 season across the globe, allowing each football authority to work out when its campaign can finish.

The world governing body will also alter the dates of the summer transfer window and permit contract extensions for players whose deals run out on June 30.

The plans, which are likely to be revealed in the next 48 hours, will offer maximum flexibility by recognising the spread of coronavirus is different in each country.

This comes after Uefa last week committed to finishing the current season and was moved to deny a report that its own president Aleksander Ceferin had set an August 3 deadline to complete all outstanding games.

While the decision from the highest authority in football does not take null and void off the table, it considerably reduces the chances of seasons being cancelled altogether.
