Brilliant to be able to see Choughs and Peregrines from where you live Cider! I guess they nest on the coastal cliffs nearby. Fingers crossed for the long-tailed *, hope they nest in the hedgerow, we'll need some updates!

It was a lovely day here yesterday. Out on a morning walk I saw my first Swallow of the year, flying low over some fields. Then at the top of a local hill, a couple of Stonechat on their gorse perches. They are still special to me, because a Stonechat I saw on holiday in North Wales many many years ago was the first bird I ever identified (from my AA Readers Digest Book of British Birds - First Edition probably!), a Christmas present I got when I was a boy! Later on in the garden I was on the lookout for the first Orange Tip butterfly, thinking that the warmth might bring them out. Didn't see one, but did see a couple of Large Whites, quite early in the year for them I think.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, without doubt, the BEST thread on TC.

Today on my daily Corona Walk with Ruby Roo I heard the delightful song of my first Willow Warbler Of The year and managed to * a brief view.

On this day 5 years ago it was a Raptor fest. And took place in 2 halves. First in the morning I went to the North Wales Moors and cool Forest with a good friend and bagged Goshawk,a pair of Hen Harrier and several Buzzards.
Then in the afternoon on a fine local patch walk with Jasmine Boxer I added Peregrine,Sparrowhawk,Kestrel And Osprey to the list. 7 species of Raptor seen that day,7 of course what a number.

And a year today me and Ruby Boxer went on a fine early walk on my local headland. I saw 3 fine migrant Ring Ouzels,2 males and a female.
Also a cool female Badger walked right past us,Ruby Roo loves that.

For some reason us and our neighbours have a pheasant, and even a partridge come into the gardens most days just now. Maybe they are getting bolder because there's so few people around in the fields and lanes currently, and they are trying out more urban areas? He landed on our roof yesterday afternoon - not the most elegant landing by the way. Also a Hoopoe was spotted in our town in a garden a couple of miles away over the weekend. I'd love to have seen that! IMG_7439.JPG
