UEFA supremo Aleksander Ceferin has warned the SPFL that they ARE jeopardising their teams' spots in next year's European competitions if they cancel the Premiership early and declare the title in Celtic's favour.

The main man at the European governing body has also ordered leagues to play out to a finish, "without supporters if necessary".

Ceferin has sought to set the record straight after the Belgian Pro League broke ranks - pending ratification - to declare their campaign in Club Bruges' favour yesterday.

An official Pro League source said that clear-the-air talks which took place between Uefa and the Belgian authorities this morning had been "constructive", with Pro League chairman Peter Croonen saying "they told me five times that it is not a threat".

But that tone appears to have changed, judging by an interview given by Ceferin to German TV channel ZDF.

In it, he states: 'This is not the way. Solidarity is not a one-way street.

You cannot ask for help and then decide for yourself whether it is convenient.

"That's why I say: Belgium and the other leagues that are thinking of cancelling the season risk participating in European competitions next year.

UEFA requires that the competitions, if justified, be played. Without supporters if necessary.

"Football is absolutely not the same without fans.

"But it's better to have football back on TV without supporters than no football at all. "

A Pro League spokesman insisted a further meeting on the subject was scheduled for next week.

Their statement read: “A remote meeting was held for over an hour this Friday morning between UEFA, the RBFA and the Pro League.

"This constructive meeting allowed Belgian football leaders to explain in detail the health and economic reasons for the recommendation issued yesterday by the Board of Directors and to challenge any approach that would consist in forcing a league to continue competing in the current state of the health crisis on pain of not being able to participate in European competitions next season.

Favorable for solidarity within European football, our representatives called for a variable approach to this concept which makes it possible to take into account both the specificities of each league. A new interview between the same parties will be scheduled within a week or so."

Developments in Belgium are being closely monitored in Scotland, where the SPFL have scheduled crisis talks for early next week as they ponder whether to declare the Scottish season over due to the coronavirus crisis.

A series of meetings are scheduled to early next week - amid increasing reports that the SPFL could hand a ninth successive top flight title to Celtic, who currently lead rivals Rangers by 13 points having played a game more.

SPFL sources are gloomy about the possibility of getting the league completed by the new provisional Uefa deadline of late July - a week or so earlier than their English Premier League counterparts are required to do.

Like the Belgian example, any decision to call off the league would be a board decision in the first instance, which would then be ratified by the clubs' rank and file.

    That's fine by us..

Get it all sorted where we can resume games soon and we'll wrap it up. Let's see how they work this..

If no then they know what leagues all around Europe will do..

    Over to you UEFA........

It is unreal how out of touch with reality UEFA seems to be at the moment. Clearly the only thing driving their thinking right now is money because otherwise there mindset is totally out of touch.

Why are diddy player's in our league basically refusing behind closed doors at any point?

Surely if this eased up and eventually settled, you'd be getting paid and would rather finish the season with the telly money still coming in? I know it isn't ideal but you'd rather play than no play at all as a footballer?

Donkeys like Liam Craig who practically play at an empty McDiarmid most home games saying they won't play game's without any spectators..

For what it's worth I don't think it'll restart anyway but from the outset they've been saying it...which I find strange..

They haven't come out of this well at all from the start. Awful infact..

Wouldn't surprise me if it was the start of a breakaway in the coming year's..

If Uefa want a breakaway super League outside of its jurisdiction, influence and control then they're going about it the right way.

The Belgian FA may not be a European financial juggernaut, but it certainly won't let itself be * about by a bunch of money grubbing parasites from Nyon.

Threatening the Belgians with expulsion from European football will only antagonize not only the Belgians, but other FAs with much harder circumstances to overcome.

Uefa have stupidly doubled down with a weak hand.

Super rich individuals who are effectively insulated from the ongoing pandemic through their exclusive lifestyles and extreme wealth.

European skies are full of private jets and helicopters running around with pleb-free air to make their movements less restrictive than normal.

We’ve known it for decades... but Football is now being shown up for the extreme lack of ethics and morals under which it operates.

At moment the medical staff that are required in the regulations, to be at the stadiums at all times a match is on, are needed elsewhere and it doesn't matter if it's behind closed doors or not.
Until the Covid-19 pandemic is stopped or reduced to such an extent that those medical staff can be released from elsewhere, they won't be allowed to play behind closed doors no matter how many teams or players are willing.
What would happen if one of those medical staff deals with a Covid-19 patient then comes to a match and has to treat a player and infects that player. It would start all over again.

How could you not expect that an organization that gives the same fine for training bibs of the wrong colour and racist chants could be anything other than that?

You've completely skipped where I've said if this eased up and eventually settled for some reason..

I know. I put in "Until the Covid-19 pandemic is stopped or reduced to such an extent that those medical staff can be released from elsewhere, they won't be allowed to play behind closed doors no matter how many teams or players are willing." which i thought covered that part.

You've for 24 people in close contact on a pitch. That isn't including ref, coaches etc.. They would need to be all tested beforehand. Fat chance of that happening

With Belgium going against UEFA by declaring their championship it might make other countries take a stance and declare giving UEFA a decision on what to do with qualification for their competitions. They pander to 4 nations all the time maybe all the other nations standing up for themselves will change the way they run the competition.

Standing positions now is what is most likely but i think it could happen with the EPL at some point. They're trying everything to get it going again..

Train away getting tested then all tested at the ground..
