Isn’t the ‘proper’ meeting on Friday?

The other problem with voiding leagues is there’s nothing to say this couldn’t happen again. You could have a scenario where after 30 games next season a team is 15+ points clear and it gets voided again.

I don't see how the null and void option can be a consideration, not with the financial implications involved.

4 weeks into a season, yes.

4 weeks to the end. No chance. That will be the decision though. * dirty hun *.

Anyone think this may have a knock on Effect ...

The Scottish club rugby season has been declared null and void as a result of the coronavirus shutdown, meaning that there will be no promotion to relegation between leagues ahead of the 2020-21 season, whenever that is able to get under way.

This news will come as a major blow to Biggar, the runaway leaders of National League One, who had already secured enough league points for promotion into the top flight Premiership, and as a huge relief to Dundee High at the other end of the same table given that they had already been condemned to relegation.

Edinburgh Accies, who were hanging on precariously at the bottom of the Premiership, and who almost certainly needed two wins from their last two games in hand against the top sides in the league (Marr and Currie Chieftains), will also feel they have dodged a bullet.

The decision to declare the season null and void was reached following a consultation process involving the participating clubs, the Championship and Competition Committee members and Scottish Rugby’s own Rugby Development Department.

Five possible scenarios were presented, with around half of clubs favouring the null and void option. The remaining clubs were split between the other four options. The second most favoured option – finishing the season based on the league positions at the time of shutdown – received the support of around a quarter of clubs.

“It was clear from the outset that, in terms of the consequential impact on the various leagues in terms of promotion/relegation there would be no 'right' solution, particularly once it was clear that our preferred option of completing the season would no longer be possible,” said Scottish Rugby President Dee Bradbury.

“Every solution we looked at was likely to be problematic in some way – none was likely to be supported by everyone. It was therefore considered essential that the full range of options were explored, each potential option was sense checked and that, as far as possible, a broad consensus was reached across the game as to the most appropriate outcome.

“We fully accept some clubs will be disappointed with this decision and share their frustration that, for wider societal reasons beyond our control, their hard work to push for success this season hasn’t yielded the rewards they deserve.”

That won’t have any bearing on what football does... (although I am wondering what they did with prize money? If anything.)

However it doesn’t mean that they won’t do the same either.

Would the spfl put it to a vote of clubs ?

Leaving aside contracts and sponsors and tv etc...

... the main problem I see would be qualification for Europe. Null and void means everything wiped... back to match day zero with no points and clubs in alphabetical order in the table. If you haven had a season and haven’t got a winner, then you can’t have any placings, so you can’t share a prize pot and you can’t say who gets to CL or EL.

The born cynic that I am thinks that the SFA and spfl will be busy looking at how they can overcome the numerous awkward obstacles to the N&V option rather than the less cumbersome ones raised by just calling a result as things stand.

What happens in the EPL will be interesting as I’m pretty sure the heidless blazer club at Hampden won’t do anything until they’ve made their move.

Scrap relegations. Crown teams champions. 2 promotions in each league (both lowland and highland champs get promoted and a summer playoff for teams 2nd-4th in their leagues right now. Start next season later and have a shortened season with 14 teams. Play each other twice (26 games, could add a split of sorts to bring it to 32 if there's time) and then rectify the leagues the following season with extra relegation spaces.

If we cant finish the season that is

Just wait til the coronavirus is under control, then finish the season. Even if it means starting next season later.

i think its best that they hold fire , with all the lockdown processes in place , things could change by mid to end of may , the hope is that number start to drop by then and if it does it may open up the option to get things back to ''normal''

    just trying to be positive

Only way all the fixtures get completed in full for this season is if we can play July and August and next seasons start date is delayed until some time in September. It might work if you cancelled all winter breaks and cancelled all international dates other then for the Euro playoffs during next season to create the space to get all next seasons games in given a late start.
