That Edinburgh Shopkeeper featured on the One Show last night. What a kind thoughtful big hearted man.
He is shown about 22 minutes into the programme, well worth a check on the old I Player.
The way he helps out the Old Residents:49:

Watched this too. For anyone who missed it, he’s delivering care packages of toilet roll, paracetamol, hand soap, and tissues, to vulnerable people in his local area.

    BBCNEWS:

Spanish soldiers helping to fight the coronavirus pandemic have found elderly patients in retirement homes abandoned and, in some cases, dead in their beds, the defence ministry has said.

oh FFS, I think I’m genuinely going to throw up at this. What are we as a race? What have we become?

'Some 250,000 people have signed up in a single day to volunteer with the NHS after a recruitment drive to help the vulnerable amid the coronavirus crisis.

The helpers are needed for delivering food and medicines, driving patients to appointments and phoning the isolated.

The scheme is one of a number aimed at relieving pressure on the NHS.

About 11,000 former medics have also agreed to return to the health service and more than 24,000 final year student nurses and medics will join them.

The government scheme to recruit 250,000 helpers - who must be over 18 and in good health - went live on Tuesday.

By Wednesday morning, they had exceeded their target, after many thousands signed up to Good Sam, the group coordinating the response.

The help is being targeted at the 1.5 million people with underlying health conditions who have been asked to shield themselves from the virus by staying at home for 12 weeks.'

Don't listen to anyone that tells you that tells you everyone these days is selfish or there's no good in the world anymore. There are brilliant people everywhere around us.

mercedes who in 5 days took a wee gadget from the NHS deconstructed it tweeked it and now it can be used to help people by assisting their breathing so as not to go on ventilators. saying they can build 1000 a week.

mercedes racing team has the best engineers in the country and at the start of all this they said the would be doing this sort of thing, as did the other racing teams based in the uk

Morrison’s donating £10 million to food banks by upping their production.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-leeds-52093902

They’d also already repurposed their cafes as donating hubs.

Had started using Morrison’s sporadically but they’ll be my first choice for the big shop from now on.

Irish headquartered medtech firm, Medtronic, is to publicly share the designs for one of its ventilator models to help people across the world to devise options for rapid ventilator manufacturing.

The move is designed to help doctors and patients combat the impact of Covid-19.

The Puritan Bennet 560 has been on sale for ten years and is sold in 35 countries around the world. It is suitable for both adults and children and can be used in hospitals and in home settings.

"By openly sharing the PB 560 design information, we hope to increase global production of ventilator solutions for the fight against COVID-19," said Bob White, executive vice-president of Medtronic.

The company has published product and service manuals as well as design requirement documents, manufacturing documents and schematics on its website for others to access.

The software code will be posted at a later date according to Medtronic.

Ventilators are currently in huge demand around the globe as frontline healthcare workers use them to save the lives of the most critically unwell Covid-19 patients.

A number of projects are underway to rapidly produce open source ventilators.

The boy that just delivered my Asda shop.

Working his * off. I did it for Tesco years ago and it was a solid enough shift during normal times.

Hats off to so many workers out there.

All of the NHS, from doctors to the cleaners.
And have you noticed not one of them has asked or even hinted about getting a pay rise, even though they deserve it.
