Chef aid Donegal, deserves a shout.

Tim Twomey and Jo Roarty of the Quay West Restaurant in Donegal Town came up with the idea of 'Chef Aid Donegal' and have been overwhelmed with support.

With two other chefs in the town, whose restaurants were also closed, they have set up a kitchen in a former restaurant to prepare free meals every day to deliver to elderly and other compromised people in the area.

They said they want to take the fear out of isolation for people and let them know that someone has their back and that they have food security.

    Again brilliant!
I'd hope they let the staff take a few things with them as well - no panic buying, but a respectful take home to tide them over as well.

Coronavirus: Scottish Muslim couple deliver free hand sanitiser to elderly people

Owner Asiyah Javed started the scheme after finding a distraught pensioner unable to buy handwash

shop in Scotland owned by a Muslim couple is delivering free handwash and facemasks to isolated elderly people in their local community.

The Day Today Express in Stenhousemuir, which is run by Asiyah Javed and her husband Jawad, is also urging local children to come to the shop to collect a free sanitiser wipe to clean their hands before going to school.

They also deliver food and groceries to people’s houses and will do so for free to people who are unwell or over 60

Ms Javed, 34, says the shop has been inundated with calls for help. “We can come wherever you want,” has been her regular response.

The scheme has been underway for two weeks and began after Ms Javed came across a distraught pensioner unable to purchase sanitary products as panic over the coronavirus in the UK led to goods shortage.

For those who make it out the other side of this disaster , I'm hoping we are going to see a massive change in society's attitude to everyone who is working a daily shift throughout this .

We all know our Health Care workers and emergency services are top class and taken for granted.
Our shopkeepers and all those working in shops are sometimes very much taken for granted - here they are now tearing away at work with 100's mayne 1000's of different people crossing their path each day.

Absolute fair * to every single person treating the unwell and fair * to those who continue to serve those of us well enough to go shopping for our goods.

Also , Truck drivers , public transport drivers, those working on our water / electric/ telecoms....I'm sure there's many more that can be added , but everyone working through this and those on standby and coming out of retirement.....unreal what's been going on.

Great announcement too from the supermarkets for their staff, however this is like 100 Christmases rolled into one for them and they are making billions out of the animal trash who are clearing their shelves for them. They would still be making billions if they actually put into force some stricter rules around the selfish fools who are stripping their stores bare.

Positive note, our apartment block has all come together to make sure the old and vulnerable are looked after and we have set up an online group to look out for each other.

We also delivered essentials to an 80 year old fella today and the look on his face through his window (he’s self isolating not with virus but he injured himself in a fall and is worried about physically interacting) was one of joy.

the bottle of Grouse and pack of golden Virginia we shoved in for good grace made him even happier!

this is a chance for society to press reset, a chance for the planet to reset and for the human race to reassess its common goals. A lot of good can come out of this. We need to protect our vulnerable and try to re-educate the selfish and we might just have a shot at saving the planet and it’s residents.
