Lol..I've not seen it yet, but I really enjoyed Maradona in Mexico on Netflix. On that, he came across as a decent bloke. I guess this is more his badder, younger years (been there myself to be honest). Plus, coming from a strong Irish background, anyone that puts England out of the World Cup with a cheat... is fine by me! :)

Best ever imo, was he the most decorated no. But he was the best I’ve seen and have never seen anything close apart from Messi.

Great film, really enjoyed watching it again. Goes to show how unprepared he was for that level of fame and the lack of structure in place at the time, to help him deal with it. Genuinely not surprised he turned to drugs and * prostitutes.

I caught a bit of it when he won the league with Napoli, they were equating him with *, he looked trapped, literally couldn’t go out without causing crowds to gather and traffic stopping, as i said, he looked trapped.

No doubt about it, the guy had phenominal ability, and probably scored the greatest goal in the history of the World cup, when it comes to the GOAT for me Messi edges it, but i can see why so many think Maradona is the best, will always come down to personal opinion.

What probably elevates Maradona above Messi for me is the absolutely brutal treatment he took from opposing players. They would generally get away with fouls that would be straight reds and multiple game bans in the modern game. Yet he still made them look like duds a lot of the time and this was up against some of the greatest defenders the game has ever seen.

That era of Italian football he was in had some of the greatest club sides and players ever and he managed to take a club fighting relegation, without a league title to their name and elevated them to the very top. He also done something similar for his country. I don't think even Messi is capable of that kind of overwhelming impact.
