Partially because they expect players to have confirmed cases of it soon, due to the EPL players getting it.

An Inverness Caledonian Thistle first-team player is currently in self-isolation after showing some of the symptoms associated with coronavirus.

Only options are void all leagues and start afresh next season, or delay and finish the games - which would almost certainly be after July meaning many players contracts will have expired, especially at the small Scottish clubs. Champions and Europa league qualifiers, thus the entire competitions, and the Euros and Olympics would have to be scrapped entirely.

This is a nightmare tbh. No-one showing any leadership in Europe or the Uk isn’t helping.

CLEARLY, today's decision to postpone our match against Rangers FC this Sunday is regrettable. However, the health and well-being of supporters, players and staff will always be of paramount importance. This will always be the focus.

We attach the SFA/SPFL Joint Response statement for our supporters’ attention. CLICK HERE

We are sure our fans will understand that this is a situation which is changing all the time.

Please note, the Club will update supporters with regards to our fixture against St Johnstone FC on Saturday, March 21 and all further fixtures as soon as possible.

For me they only have two options - continue the league once this is over or declare Celtic champions.

For the relegation candidates let them have a play off as soon as it’s viable since it’s so close at the bottom.

Put the question to the SPFL clubs for a majority vote between those two options. Realistically the Huns will vote to declare us champions because if they force the season to continue they know they won’t win.

Voiding the league is a ridiculous notion. You’d literally be voiding it for the sake of starting a new one, how does that make any sense at all?

I understand that, and don’t want to see anyone get it.

At the same time though....players get ill and injured. We’ve seen individual teams decimated with illness and food poising before and nothing has been done. I understand the circumstances are different here, but it feels as though postponing the whole league due to the possibility of a few footballers getting ill (who will no doubt be able to shrug off the illness relatively quickly) seems drastic to me.

I agree, it is quite drastic. Erring on the side of caution seems to be the way, though I think the government’s overall stance on it is daft.

Finish the season when this blows over, then give the clubs a month off and start the new season playing each other home and away once with no play offs.

We will probably find out more after the UEFA meeting on Tuesday.

There will probably be a complete shutdown for a month or 2 then the seasons will resume behind closed doors, next season will be cancelled or delayed or cut short, maybe Cups and European football cancelled and only the Leagues will go ahead.

This type of thing makes the most sense to me. The idea of voiding the current competitions simply because we need to start next season is ridiculous.

What happens if we void this season, start next season and then get issues this time next year? Do we just keep voiding leagues?

I doubt very much the Euros will suffer as UEFA will be * bent avoiding any lost revenue. So that means If we resume the league in a month we will have on average about 5 games each to catch up and with all teams needing to approve I would doubt the league will be wrapped up in a proper manner or time. Unless in the case of the SPFL we could play the games left before the split and cancel the break in the league table.

I don't think some people are getting this or see the big picture. So what if the football is suspended.Peoples lives are at risk here. If you have a full weekend fixture list it ties up our emergency services of which are already breaking under the pressure. Suspending the football, rugby etc frees up our ambulance crews and paramedic teams allowing them to focus on the sick and the vulnerable. The emergency services are not immune from catching this virus so their numbers will fall as well. Suspending the football is not the end of the world, the SFA will have to follow UEFA's directive on this. If they decide the Euro qualifiers are postponed until next year to allow the domestic games to be concluded then they will have to follow. There is too much money in CL, EPL. LA Liga etc to simply null and void leagues or cancel a complete season. Football will be back at some point, some peoples loved ones wont be around to see it.I wish all Tims around the world good health and to get over this horrible virus. Hail Hail.

You would also have all football fans looking a refund on season tickets etc. It is a product after all and if the product isn’t available or cancelled then the people are entitled to be reimbursed.

Shorten the season? Complete the league without the split, would that be an option?

    Worst case:

    - Crown us champions.
    - No relegation from Premiership.
    - Dundee Utd promoted as champions.
    - Playoff between Inverness, Dundee, Ayr and Dunfermline to give us the 14th team required for reconstruction.

    New League system:

    - 14 team league.
    - All teams play each other twice home and away = 26 games.
    - Top 7 and bottom 7 split.
    - Teams in each side of the split will then play each other again home and away = 12 games.
    - All teams in top 7 would be guaranteed to play the exact same fixtures, unlike this season.
    - TV would still get 4 Celtic vs Hun games.

Yeah it won't take long to complete most domestic seasons either. Most Leagues only have 7-12 games left including Cups.

They could be played at a schedule of

    Saturday
    Tuesday
    Friday
    Monday
    Thursday
    Sunday
    Wednesday
    Saturday
    Tuesday
    Friday

And be done in 3-5 weeks by playing every 3 days.
