Loved getting my atari st games from the barras was amazing, used to get all the best games. Remeber the old gallowgate market and you would walk in and ask the guy for his list and he would slide it out of a unit all secretive like lol. Used to do like 5 Videos for £20 lol

The Barras was brilliant for your chipped ps2 games, the guy would sell games for £5 which was smashing. They also chipped your console in front of you too.

When I was younger I thought the 'pirates' were actual sea pirates and would always look over the counter to see if they had a wooden leg. :56:

I remember when I was also younger, at a fancy dress competition, I dressed as a pirate with video tapes attached to me :56: I won

When I first started going up they had a wad of Amigas all running X Copy Professional, after you'd picked your game/s you could watch them copy it but after getting busted a couple of times they moved the selection area from the copying area but it didn't give you much of an extra wait and it beat the * of of retail prices. I can't remember what they used for the ST, Fast Copy 3 maybe. For the Amiga your was money better spent on the demos than the ganes. Still love watchind the demos on you tube.

Its still the first place I go when visiting Glasgow. Just up the road a wee woman has an Italian Ice cream shop that I've always loved, can't remember the name now.

    The Barras officially deid then?

I went through a month or two back on a Saturday and there was like one or two stalls up near the Squirrel Bar bit and nothing else...was a total ghost town.

It's a changed place, can remember it back in the day when the place was full of punters pubs and stalls, such a pity.

Uses to love going there when over for the matches . Always picked something up. Right beside the gallowgate pubs. Loves the place. The gallowgate isn't what it used to be and can't even remember the last time I had a drink there.
