Just feel we’re one defender away from a really good back 3, it may well be Elhamed and Bitton has done well too..

But I feel, we need someone to knit together as a tighter unit maybe an experienced sweeper type who is physical but can organise.. easier said and done to find I guess.

No idea, but I seem to recall him being fantastic away at Anderlecht in the CL and the home game against Leipzig when we won 2-1.

Not really individual performances I’m talking about though.

It is though, that's exactly what you've said.

Boyata's performance v Anderlecht was nowhere near the level Julien was at against Lazio.

In the highlights reel alone it shows you him getting done 3 times: (0.45 seconds striker walks by unchallenged, 1.06 loses his man who fluffs the rebound, nutmegged on 1.55 when striker gets another shot in)

Couldn't he have played against AEK but pretended to be injured?

I thought it was disgraceful for that * Dykes to go public and mock the big man, totally unprofessional, I have never held any personal grudges against opposition players but I hope someone does a number on that ignorant *, preferably big Julian next time.

Seems to me he struggles with the high line and balls over the top to a big centre forward. No doubt because he has never really encountered that in his career while playing with teams who probably always sit 20 yards further back and do a lot of defending.

When he is in the trenches though he is an absolute collosus.

I've no doubt he will be working on that side of his game every day though.

    Boyata was bang average.

Still is. Watched him for Hertha the other week and he was up to his old tricks scoring an OG. Only reason he is near the Belgian side is they have very few other options.

I've more trust in Jullien and hes a more accomplished centre back and defender IMO.

Well chances are we will be playing Livingston away for a third time after the split so after what Dykes said in public he may be wishing he kept that crap to himself as that is classic dressing room wall material.

Looked a bit more Rolls Royce second half. Good to see.

I think at times I would agree and I think boyata would have been a better player next to someone like Jullien.

However he did have the capacity to be a bombscare and have the type of game where one mistake led to a complete meltdown (much like Jozo). The 3-2 win at Ibrox 2 years ago was a prime example of both at their best. The 2-1 game at home last year against them was another he had a stinker before pulling up. The Bayern game mentioned when he inexplicably let the ball run through to Coman when we were on top against a superior opponent. His biggest problem was when Boyata started thinking he was a ball playing centre back as he was hideous with the ball at his feet and would fall over it.

Something like Kolo when we had him briefly although obviously a bit younger would be ideal. Easier said than done though, as you've said!

Mowbray the player wouldn’t have been bullied like CJ the other night..Lack of pace let him down but he could smash a striker up when he wanted to
