This is why we have a problem at Celtic.
Happy low balling and accepting continued domestic success against inferior opposition and "as long as we stay above rangers" . Not looking up and challenging in Europe despite not having a greater opportunity in our history to really have full focus on Europe with no domestic pressure in last decade.

Low reach, low expectations. Lawell not held accountable for his spending, Lennon not accountable for his coaching. Soro, bayo, shved, bolingoli, hoping one of these cheap signings sticks and turns into an Edouard or dembele.

It's such a sad indicament of this great club that board all the way down to some fans are accepting this as the norm. What happened to fortress Celtic Park? What happened to keeping board accountable for its actions ?

Celtic is a shareholders paradise. Leeching off the fans , making tonnes of cash and no progress on the bigger stage .

Sorry, can win the next 5 trebles, it is not progress. It's just being happy with what you've got and not willing to take a risk and really be ambitious.

Quarter or semi final in Europa with some ambition isn't impossible. I'm saying would you rather keep winning trophy after trophy at home with a lower level of players or take a gamble and spend to accumulate better players to push on in Europe. We are doing what we do domestically with ease, there's a boredom setting in, Europa League is an acceptable level where we should be pushing for a last 8 at minimum.

If fans are happy to sit at Europa League last 32 and get whipped by team we should have been demolishing then thats great. This club is bigger than a lot of those teams that are left in this competition. Ambition and desire should increase on the pitch, not just in the bank balance.

We should be winning the league easily for the foreseeable with our current spending. However, we could still easily be within our means if we just spent that bit more on say another 7 million pound centre half. Europe is the yardstick of our progress and we need to be a bit more ambitious than just Scottish dominance.

Gamble,ok we have just got banged out of Europe and in our team are two players we should buy and they will cost us anything upto 20 million,FF and Elyounoussi,so how much of a gamble do we need to take...50 million,100 million because that could be what we have to spend.
Lets not forget we are getting beat by teams who are smaller and spend less so the problem is not really about money.
If it wasn't for FF pen save we would have let in 5 goals in the last two legs, why is our defence so poor when others manage on similar money.

As for the bored part,if you are bored just now then you are spoilt, there are many records for this team to break before we get anywhere near boredom.
i doubt many will be bored before 13IAR.....if we get that far!.

Why should we be demolishing Copenhagen exactly? If it’s simply down to finances, then we should’ve been demolished in the group stages by both Lazio and Rennais.

I don’t believe the Europa League last 8 is an unrealistic ambition, but people need to realise that the margins between where we were (last 32) and where you want us to be (last 8) aren’t huge, and are often decided by luck. We achieved a good result in Copenhagen and capitulated back at home mainly because of some horrendous defending. As poor as we were, the game was basically decided by Jozo * up and our team switching off immediately after the penalty. If we had gotten through we would’ve been playing a team that we may have fancied ourselves against, but a side that could outspend us significantly. By the same token, maybe we would’ve been drawn against LASK and really fancied it based on finances.

The margins are small. The reality is when two teams go head to head one has to come off second best and that was us on this occasion, both tactically and in terms of individual performances. We could definitely improve on a few key positions, and although how our January signings play out over the longer term remains to be seen, they could hardly have done less to contribute so far. It isn’t simply a money issue though, we spent exceptionally well in the summer, and so far at least, very poorly in January - but we did spend. We may be looking at another busy summer ahead unfortunately, with the futures of Edouard, Ntcham, Forster and Mo all very uncertain, and questions marks over McGregor and Rogic.

I sympathize with the OP but in today's world the money men couldn't care less what the fans want. All they see is bank balances and turnover. We're not in control they are because they know our only option is to vote with our feet and watch our club die. They know that's never going to happen. They patronize us and play with our emotions and a lot of fans are suckered in time and again. They know our level and our marketability. No real known talents are clamouring to join Glasgow Cetic. This isn't where the real money is. We're ok for the tail end of their career when they want to feel loved again. We can only hope for the occasional good find who as soon as he starts to shine will move on to bigger things and money. Once you figure all of this out you learn to accept where we are. If we ever win a major competition again it will likely be because a flukey set of events got us there. We the fans are not in control of anything really.

Being a Celtic supporter is * ridiculous at times. 10 days ago Lennon was the second coming, we couldn't speak highly enough of the mentality and quality of the team and we were all on cloud 9. Fast forward that 10 days and Lenny is clueless in big games, the board are taking the fans for mugs and half the squad needs to be sold.

Football teams lose matches they should win sometimes. We * it. We'll get over it and come back stronger.

I think that it's just peoples expectations are far higher than what we can realistically expect at times. All this we will do this and we will do that 4 nil, 5 nil etc rarely pans out and those expecting scores like that are outraged when it doesn't happen. Casting out right, left and centre as to who is to blame. We were at home and should have beaten that team with our skills but we have to remember that they actually won the game with a combination of skill and mentality. Some of our players were anonymous.

Honestly after growing up in the 90s then living through this period I’m borderline offended by this thread.

    * kneejerk reaction if ever a seen one. Remember we lost similarly to Cluj? We went on to prove we were the better team but it’s football sometimes results like this happen.

Aye a would rather have went out to a better team but so what. I just hope the players are of stronger mentality than the OP and pick themselves up for the run in.

I also grew up through the 90s and hated majority of it. I also think fans in their late teens and early 20s now are spoiled with only seeing us for the majority not lose out and never truly tasted defeat.

my argument is not about being spoilt with trophies, or a kneejerk reaction, it happens every season. it's about using it and the finances we generate to bring a more European focus, where we are really tested against better opposition.

Do you know the cost of the copenhagen team or cluig ?
Im guessing they are probable below us interms of spending(;open to correction)either way we have spent enough to allow us to beat teams at that level and yet we struggle.
Its not always as simple as spending more money.
Either way dont have the regualer income to allow us to spend big so i think we can forget aboyt that .

To be fair, I do have a massive rid neck that the monkeys have gone further than us. It feels like we just stagnate in Europe and really go nowhere.
