It’s on azm.to mate. Been meaning to watch it but it’s my mums favourite book and she’s desperate to see it so waiting to watch it with her :56:

Been rumours the last few weeks Dever is gonny be Batgirl, and she supposedly refused to deny it at the Oscars red carpet.

Probably watched it but you should see Edge of Seventeen, similar to Booksmart and Lady Bird.

Ah cheers man! Would like to see her in that film. Cast is already superb. Just remembered she was in Short Term 12 as well. Another good one.

Haven’t seen Edge of Seventeen but I’ll add it to the list. Brooklyn is another one I’m watching soon. In a mood for those types of films atm.:giggle1:

So many films from the last few years I’ve to catch up on.

I’ve got like 200 in my watchlist on Letterboxd :56:

Edge of Seventeen is brilliant. Should defo watch that if you’re liking the female coming of age films. Woody Harrelson is hilarious in it :giggle1:

Loved it. Knew it was a famous book but didn’t know a thing about the story. What a film. Was greeting once or twice.

Caught a screening of it at a film festival some months back, but the AD they had for that wasn't great (spent half the movie with my head down by my knee trying to listen through the static), but it was decent. Went to it again today now that it is in wide release here in the UK. They've done a new AD for this now, with the narrator also using accents etc to accentuate the different characters in the translation of the dialogue, with interesting results. This is the first time I can recall taking quite this drastic an approach, compared to what I've heard when they did The Farewell, Lion, Crazy Rich Asians, Roma et al. For example, the oriignal housekeeper is done with a soft Scottish accent, the original driver is done with a slow southern-esque drawl, which in itself was rather bizarre.

One thought that I've had though since catching it this afternoon is, now that it has won the Best Picture Oscar, is this film deserving of the praise and accolades it has recieved? While it was one of the better films of last year, the Academy has this horrible habit of awarding the wrong film/performance etc and then course correcting after that. So my question is this - if Roma had've been given it's deserved dues and won last year instead of Green Book, would Parasite still have been named this year as Best Picture, meaning back to back non-English language films walking away with the top prize? Am not making any comment about the virtues one way or the other, just food for thought.

    The Florida Project

One of the more interesting films I’ve watched in some time. No real plot to it, just following a kid, her pals and her mum throughout the summer. Great colours and performances from the kids and Willem Dafoe. Bit of an eye opener as well.

The actress who played the mother of the wee girl wasn’t even an actress. That was her first ever acting job.

A24 have some unreal films. Will watch anything they release.

Hopefully they're finally realising foreign films can be much better than the usual Hollywood *, but I doubt it. Some of the best films Ive seen have been foreign

Quite decent, although I twigged pretty early on who the bad guys were.

Ending felt a bit rushed and *, but still decent overall.

Aye I saw the director found her on Instagram:giggle1:

On an A24 binge atm. Watched Midsommar last night. Thought it was good, but was a wee bit underwhelmed after some of the hype around it.

Went to this 3 times when it was at the cinema. One of my favourites from last year. Liked the performances, loved the writing and music was different class. Couldn't get enough of it.

    Hereditary

Such a strong start. And such a “meh” ending. Creepy as * at times but ultimately a generic, seen it before ending.
