Just seem M.Johnston going off after coming on as a sub,he did well lasted about 3 or 5 mins i think.
But what is going on at our club,we seem to have a very high turn over of players that are out injured...in some cases they are out for nearly the whole time they are with us.
But losing players for a whole season is not uncommon.

Do other clubs in the spl have the same problem..?,yes we have more games and bigger squad but i do feel there are problems at celtic with player fitness and ability to stay injury free.

We must play more football than a huge amount of clubs. The more you play, the higher the risk of injury. Couple that with the demand for success at Celtic and you can understand why a manager might be hesitant to rotate as much as he could. It’ll all add up. I doubt it’s due to negligence or training regimes.

It would be helpful to have a club or two to make a comparison with, though.

Its like every game we play, we end up adding someone to our injury list, that's Bitton, Jerry and MJ since winter break. And Joso??

There is something wrong with the pitch at Lennoxtown, no doubt.

Something defo not right at all, but our schedule doesnt help, 2 weeks off at summer then right into European qualifiers. Competitive football for 11 Months compared to everyone else's 9/10.

There could be, Lennon alluded to it in his first stint I think but the evidence doesn't point to that exclusively.

For a start we had 2 players injured out in our Dubai Training camp, Frimpong injured at Rugby Park, MJ (and possibly Jozo?) injured at McDiarmid Park, Elhamed injured at the Stadio Olimpico, Elyounoussi injured while away with Norway, Arzani getting a season-ender at Dens Park last year.

Although so many seasons of constant play doesn't help there must be something more. Part of it is probably due to our tactics being free flowing football, other Scottish teams it is sometimes like watching UFC (Morelos' aerial flips and dives more like Njpw best of the super juniors). Our players don't often seem to get stuck in and scare the other teams from wanting to go in.

And yet Calmac and Broonie play under same conditions as the rest, but every game and they ( thank *) very rarely get injured..

I put no, because I don't think it's anything we can do ourselves to fix. We play about 60 matches a year, with most players also doing maybe 6 or so internationals + travel. We only have about 2 or 3 weeks off in summer and 2 or 3 in winter because of the scheduling. On top of that we regularly get kicked all over the shop in matches, without any protection or consequence for perpetrators but get held to highest standards ourselves. We also need to play to highest levels, despite being against ridiculously defensive setups.

Only way to get around these difficulties would to be less demanding and less successful, so we all know that's not an option...

Lustigs injury nightmare cleared up after a year at Celtic. Very often its the same players continually getting injured

This is a fair point, those 2 have played non stop (with the odd injury) for ages now and cope.

Said it in another thread the other week, we’ve cut costs in a few areas, main on is medical side. We have had no full time club doctor since 2012. We’ve got one of the best head physio’s about and same with the sports scientist we’ve got but all the staff under them are on short term contracts who come in and get their training then move down South for more money.

We had 3 people in for strength & conditioning and performance & fitness staff, now only 1 person to do a 3 person job. Same story in the youth set up.

Our defenders pick up far too many injuries as a group.

Other players like Mikey just seem to be one of those guys that are always hit by some niggly little thing.

We’ve played about 50-60 games a season for 5 years near enough so it’s a lot more than most teams. We also don’t invest enough in the medical and fitness staff
