I'm trying to download a picture onto a resizing site to post it on TC, I've been doing this for quite some time to post images to the Wildlife sightings in the Celtic pub.
when I go onto the resizing site it asks to browse and select a file, when the window opens I select Pictures, open the folder I want and select the file to be resized.
since yesterday it isn't letting me select a file, every time I attempt to scroll down to pick the one I want it goes back to the folders list.
I tried power off for ten minutes, powered back on, same thing.
I also restarted it In the hope it would work but no joy.
it's not the resizing site causing it as I've tried it on another photographic site with the same result.
Any TC'ers have an idea what it could be causing this? i'm ready for putting the fecking thing in the fire.
    Cheers.
p.s.please be gentle with the terminology :old: :50:

The new photos you are trying to upload, they aren't a different file type are they? Are they all the same file type as others you have uploaded before? For example, pic.jpeg or pic.bmp etc.

Aye they’re all the same as before,
They’re jpeg, I tried downloading files from older folders I’d downloaded from before but got the same results.

And on the resize site, are you definitely clicking on "upload file" and not "upload folder"?

Yes, I click on the Browse button same as I’ve always done, I also tried to download onto a photography site I use often but I’m getting the same result.

Press Windows button + E, this should open File Explorer options

Click on 'File' on top menu ribbon

Select "Change folder and search options"

    Go to the "View" tab

    Click on "Reset Folders"

Long shot but worth a go...

Cheers Marty, I’m not at home at the moment, I’ll try your idea later and let you know if it works :50:

It might also be a firewall issue

    Open your Control Panel

Click "Security", then click Windows Firewall

Click "Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall"

Scroll through the list until you see "File and Printer Sharing", make sure that tick box is checked and also the box under the Private column

    Click OK

Cool man, I popped another option above :50:

Might be a corrupt video file in the folder causing some havoc, check there isn't anything in there that doesn't look like a picture file.

Might also be worth looking to see if you can reset your Web browser too

@Johniebhoy. if you're on a phone then an app called LitPhoto will resize photos for you.

Otherwise you can upload the original image to a site like Imgur and copy the URL link from that then paste that into the Image URL part when you click the picture icon above the comment box

Aye that would be the best shout  think the photos are all on the computer though.

On my phone I use PicsArt app which has a resize tool. Or Lunapic online. Piece a *

Marty, I tried both your suggestions but it’s more or less the same, after a few tries I was able to download two files then it went back to its carry on.
On the security page there are two icons with yellow triangles with an exclamation mark inside,
First one is Virus and threat protection “set up one drive for file recovery options in case of a ransom ware attack,” the next one is account protection,”set up windows hello for faster more secure sign in” would this have any bearing on things?

Nah I don't think that makes any odds here.

Maybe some sort of issue with your browser. I'm a bit stumped tbh mate.

Thanks for your help Marty, a lad at work says I should try re setting the modem so I’ll give it a try, if that doesn’t work I’ll leave it in to a repair shop.
    Cheers :50:

Marty, I took the lappy to a internet café and the lad there had a search through and couldn't see what was causing the problem, he then installed Google Chrome and it cured the problem, so happy days and normal blood pressure again.
    Thanks again for your efforts.:50:
