This hole has appeared in our leaf pile over the past couple of weeks. Does anyone have any ideas which wee fella might have put it there or be using it?

Saw this wee fella through the steamed up car windscreen yesterday. Is it a stonechat?

Thanks, T. We know there is a hedgehog about somewhere but haven't seen him for about a year. Would love it to be hedgehog home.

Aye, looks like the kind of spot they like to hibernate in. It might also be a stoat but looks a bit too large.

That Depeche Mode when we score!!
Went up the Glen on my last full day up here in the Highlands. It was cold and colder as I gained height and the Snow drifts started to take their toll and a strong wind was the king of the very top so the peaks just missed out, much to Ruby’s relief then back to total fun in the snow on the way back down.
Did get a fine 2nd Year Golden Eagle though. Just the one Mountain Hare seen.
Ruby Roo saw 3 pretty close by Roe Deer And was very good just looking at them even though she wanted to play.
    Also a fine Red Squirrel

Put some sand at the hole and check for footings. Have you bird feeders nearby ?

There are bird feeders and suet blocks all over garden but none in immediate vicinity to the leaf piles and log piles. I tend to stay away from them in case I disturb anything. Good tip about the sand.
