Something you’ve got to consider as well he could be on any number of antidepressants antipsychotics the lot considering his mental health struggles, anyone who’s ever dealt with these medications knows that they have negative physical and mental side effects and can * up your reactions, motivation, fitness levels

 

NEIL LENNON has revealed Leigh Griffiths’ cup final snub was down to numbers – not fitness.

Striker Griff was surprisingly left out of yesterday’s Betfred Cup Final squad as Celtic beat Rangers 1-0 at Hampden.

Winger Lewis Morgan led the line for the Hoops, with Odsonne Edouard on the bench after winning his late fitness test.

But gaffer Lenny has vowed to hand Griffiths game time in Thursday’s final Europa League group stage match away to Cluj.

He said: “Leigh will be involved.

“We were going to start Odsonne [Edouard] if he had been fit and Leigh would have been on the bench.

“But the fact Odsonne couldn’t start we decided to go with [Lewis] Morgan to start and bring Odsonne on.

“So we couldn’t get Leigh on the bench, it was nothing to do with fitness levels or anything like that.”

 

Good we know that, now it's clear who has to take the blame for putting Morgan upfront. Neil is partially to blame for the * performance yesterday. Even without much game time this season Leigh would have made a better contribution in that position.

I think people are getting a bit carried away here. I'd say he's 70/80% physically fit. when Morgan started midweek and Griffith's came on the plan was edoaurd to start and griff to be on bench . Then when edoaurd didn't start but could come in from bench Lennon was left with the option of putting two strikers in squad who aren't 100% fit or start Morgan who had done ok against Cluj and rose county in that role. He obviously went with latter. I think he has to start in Cluj and hopefully all going well can be number 2 to edoaurd through the Xmas period. But if he fails to make the required contribution or show enough in December I think we need at least one new striker in January . Considering what's likely to happen over next couple Windows I hope Hammond uncovers the next dembele or edoaurd soon

Lenny has said already LG won’t be going on Loan.

 

Don’t know what the script is and even though I understand the concern, I don’t think it’s right to speculate without knowing anything.

The only thing that’s clear is that we need to sign another striker in January.

 

I'm not speculating anything but if everything is good with leigh, then why wasnt he on the park celebrating with everyone after the game?

 

I’m calling bullshit on what Lenny is saying. Leigh is being phased out and I think Celtic are doing it as quietly as possibly. Maybe to save his embarrassment.

 

For me, that's the answer i wanted to hear from Lenny and with Eddy no starting makes sense to me he did with regards to that. I do question Morgan up top though and arguably Mikey or even Sinclair could have done no worse??

Because of what Griff is/was suffering though even if he does stay it's too risky probably not to buy another striker even though above i said if he's fit going into break we could maybe wing it for the rest of the season. We really need another striker either way.

 

If LG was fit he most definitely should have led the line yesterday , good movement and score goals...I can't get my head round that one.
He's not a target man , that's a given , but he has far greater awareness and movement than Morgan has

 

That part doesn’t make sense.

Seems like it’s obviously down to match fitness if Griff was trusted to be on the bench but not trusted to start.

 

He will get his chance and he’s going to come back better.

 

Instead of who? Really don't think Manager can afford to have 2 strikers on the bench.

 

That makes absolutely zero sense whatever.
