The guy is a grafter and deserves a contract extension.

When the going gets tough he's a guy you want in the trenches with you.

Took another shocker of a tackle but showed some metal to get back up and on with it.

One of the most consistent players in the squad. Great attitude, and considering he's playing out of position I think he's been outstanding when called upon.

He's the type of player that no matter how he plays, good, bad or indifferent, you * well know he has given his all in the match. Can't really ask any more from a player than that.

Offered some attacking threat in the 1. half when we were rather tame. When time came to fight for survival, he fought. It's just a pity he hasn't racked up more time with us.

Mentioned this is the match thread, but it's worth repeating.

I think the fact that his booting out the ball from our goal when Aribo was right there to tap it in went largely unnoticed. That could have been an early goal for the Huns.

He had a lot of ground to cover. Sadly, Elyounoussi wasn't quite ready to start and was all over the place as a result. Hayes had to cover both positions, IMO, going all the way forward and then tracking back for the entire match. Not much more you can ask from the bhoy.

Thought he had a decent game, one of the very few. Played on injured aswell.

Only things he did wrong were * up a clearance which they nearly scored from and offered Morelos a hand up.

Made a difference both back and front on Sunday. Not the most skillful but one of my favourites, he never plays less than 100%. I hope he's with us for years to come.

Mr reliable, never let's us down. Old cliche but every winning squad needs players like him.

Still remember him busting a gut to support Johnston in the last 10 mins and get past a few of their players with the ball, that was after he went down injured as well. Absolute warrior and always gives his best.

Also worth noting he was the only one I saw that went and shook every hun players hand before celebrating after final whistle, after a final like that shows his kind of character to shake those cheating * hands, fair play to him to not get caught up in the emotions.

    Love his tenacity..

Been a harsh critic of him, but he's proven himself to be an important part of the squad.

He gets what it means and that must rub off.

I hope he never makes that mistake again of handing out an arm to that Moreloser *..

The * went to deliberately put Jullien out the game. Goldson did on Eddy. Aribo late and deliberate on Hayes as well..

Hayes was caught out a fair bit first half from what I remember was never in line with the rest of the defence but second half he was relentless..

I noticed it too that he made a point of shaking hands. Gentleman.

His work rate was excellent yesterday but his actual performance wasn’t good. Was at fault for a few big chances for them.

He’s a handy squad player but hopefully won’t be starting in games like that too often.
