Well have we even asked Rosenborg if they'd take Hendry?!

Anyway, from what (admittedly limited) I've seen of Taylor I quite like him.

He's played a good amount of games for a player his age and will have learned an awful lot under Steve Clarke while he was at Killie. He's a decent young player who could well continue to improve playing/training with better players and I'm sure he'll fancy his chances of becoming first-choice since KT left and Boli has had a stuttering start.

It beats having to play Hayes or McGregor there.

Apparently they are looking for £7M, which we wont spend after going out of the CL.

That's clearly not what I meant? How you have come to that summary baffles me.

It's a very simple idea. Sell a player for £25M and spend more than 12% of it to find better quality.

I think he's a solid player and would be good value at a couple of million.

Call me mad but I'm actually swaying towards preferring signing Taylor than Melling if we had a choice.

Even if the £3m player is better than the £6m player?

7m is madness, thought it was about half that.

Taylor definitely a better option based on that.

Do you have a 6mill suggestion for lb that would come at this stage of the season without champions league football? My comment isn't intended as argumentative, I'm just wondering

So because we were beaten at home by a poor cluj team would you assume all our players are garbage? It's not ideal, but it's the best we got at this stage. We need someone defensively reliable in spl week in week out at left back. Someone up to speed fitness wise and who can settle quickly. He's young and decent defensively. If the price is right 1.5/1.75 and maybe hendry with a sell on then I think it's a no brainer at this point. Especially if he is hungry to come here and succeed.

Where is the logic going here? It stands to reason most £6M rated players will be better than £3M players. Not in all cases granted but I would imagine a good 90% of the time that is the case. Boyata £3M Vs Henry £1.5M. It is a very simple logic here. My original post said if we bank £25M from Tierney more than £3M should be spent on a replacement. Does anyone feel differently?

It's fair question and the honest answer is I do not. Just think when we strip it to the basics spending 12% of your money from your sold asset isn't the right thing to do.

Let's be honest we will never sign anyone that's the same standard of Tierney. We all accept that but it should be replaced with the highest possible quality we can find. I just feel that looking at a £3M kilmarnock lb may possibly not be the best bit of business we can do.

Or Boyata £3m vs Van Dijk £1.5m.
Or Efrain Juarez £3.5m vs Wanyama £900k

The point is, we need to sign the right players, we need to properly scout and not go on price tag alone.

The fact that we spent £9m on Eddy wasn’t amazing because it was £9m... it’s because it was on Eddy.

If Celtic do sign Taylor I believe we had been trying to get someone else for that position, no doubt priced out as usual. To sign him this late makes no sense this could have been tied up way earlier as he would jump at the move from Killie to us. Looks like we had been trying elsewhere and failed hence why this is being negotiated this late in the window
